I'm thinking about a Port Angeles, or Anacortes trip in the C-Dory. would love to buddy boat out, or I may be able to host a person on my tub. anyone planning on getting out this month? In the past I spent more time in the south sound so I tend to lean towards group outtings in new areas till I'm familiar. This weekend (5th/6th) is out for me, but afterwards...

I might be interested in going out. I'm just freaked out about the bar and getting into bad stuff out there. It would be good to follow out some very experienced guys.

I'd be willing if it was a really good day weather and wind wise. I've got a 20ft Hewes Searunner, so it's capable on good days.

Do you know those areas at all? they'll be pretty exploratory for me. last summer I launched out of Bellingham and took the cruise over to Friday Harbor, but I'd like to get more of a 1 day trip in, staying relatively close to whatever launch I hit so I can drive home the same day, ideally.

I keep my boat at Des Moines marina and would love to meet up. I would love to maybe trade trips or something similar since I don't want to drag my boat out of the water until May...

If there are 2 spots open, I know I'd be interested, and my fishing buddy probably would too. We could chip in for gas. Sundays are my normal fishing days, but with enough advance notice, I could probably make a Saturday work.

You should be able to handle a little bit of waves. I don't know that boat to well but most 20 footers will take 1-2 footers without major worries.
I don't fish the san juans on a regular basis so I won't offer to so you around just for safety reasons. There are some reefs and rocks to be aware of. Deception pass itself has some serious tide coming through it and the wind/waves can get pretty nasty. But on the bloody decks forum there are some guys who fish up there all the time. Im sure you could find someone on there to help you, they seem nice enough.
Or just show up to one of the more popular ramps and follow someone out. People "hitchhike" to fishing grounds all the time from docks. There are a few places that are pretty well known up north and have enough info online to get it done. Goodluck guys :salut:

Here's your boat ramp in Anacortes: http://www.cityofanacortes.org/washingt ... z4q_qhdVA0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't fish the area, I do crab it and camp in the San Juans. No bar, nice ramp, Salmonuniversity should have some online info, Holiday Market on hiwy 20 is a good source, check the regs and emergency regs.... great area even for just a boat ride. Some people really have it dialed in as a fishery, I don't.. LOL

I'm assuming this isn't a secret resource, so here's some great starter info for that area: http://www.johnssportinggoods.com/index.php/johns-maps/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I've been out for Lings in that area last year and will be up this Memorial Day as well.

Nope, haven't found it down here yet. Tried on Amazon too. Some day I need to go up there. I figure if Cabela's is a destination, John's should be at this point.

I think I ordered it through his website.

on a side note, I got the c-dory out on lake sammamish this weekend for our first 2014 outting/test run. Funny, I remember winterizing it back in October thinking it would take forever before we could get it out again. felt like I was driving it just yesterday though once we had her putting around the lake. motors are tuned, new impellers, new battery. I am thinking I should put new tires on the trailer this month but otherwise we should be good for the 2014 salt season.

Dustin,

I know the ins and out of Area 7 very well. I have been fishing it for several years now. I may not be able to get out with you before the closure coming up, but if you would like to go out after May 1st and fish lings, I can show you some really good areas. After July 1 summer Chinook is open, I would be glad to go out with you and show you around.

PM me

Matt
