Tomics trolled fast, lots of line off the downriggers, 30 feet or so. Tomics like to move around. Go to Three Rivers in Wville, they have lot of them on display. I would use a six foot leader of 30-40 pound fluorocarbon tied to a swivel. The reason for the swivel is sometimes the line tangles with the hooks, the plug does a barrel roll and your line will get very twisted up w/o a swivel. Second place is a Silver Horde trolled slower.

Why not in MA9? Tomics are pretty standard on Possession. But I doubt the Chinook quota will last into August very long.

Thanks for the info. When you say fast 2.5mp 3 mph ? What size do you use 3.5 or 5 ? Or does it matter ?

Is area 9 a more productive area ?

MA 9 Possession Bar on either tide, Point No Point on the out tide and Pilot Pt on the incoming are usually the most productive summer Chinook spots. 5 inch is pretty much the size you want. 2.5 mph or so. Just go to Three Rivers and ask the guy behind the counter, they'll fix you up.

Area 8-2 is never open for kings during the summer, only winter blackmouth. And yes, area 9 is more productive.

Just looked at regs again when I looked the 1st time I just noticed the Salmon open entire area. I didn't notice the release Chinook part.

I was in MA9 yesterday and went 2/4. The two I got to the boat were released one shaker and one nice wild fish. Not a boat around for miles but I was not in one of the popular spots named above. Hoochies were the ticket.
