2014 Saltwater Coho

Alright,

After a less then great summer on the Sky I am DYING to get out into some of those feisty little Silvers. With this also being my first year with a BIG boat, I am finally brave enough to round the point and try out Area 9 instead of just bobbing around in 8-2. But to be honest, the salt is not my thing, at all. I can catch fish but pulling plugs and floating eggs doesnt seem to work well out there! (jokes, kind of) So there is always an open seat on the Customweld is somebody is a little more salty then I and wants to go for a boat ride.



With that being said, who has been catching!?

A look at the creel reports will show you there isn't much to write home about. In a couple weeks we should start seeing some ocean bound coho show up and life will be good
How are you planning to fish the salt? Downriggers? mooch/jigging? Do know where to fish? Do you have salt water gear? Do you really have no idea what to do or just need some help dialing everything in? Let me know, I can help fill in some of the blanks.

My goto spot for resident silvers are the 200' to 500' waters just South of Jeff Head, however it is a long run from where you are launching. Once the main run shows up, I'm confident you'll have no problems picking up fish in the southern section of area 9, silvers are suicidal.

what they said. Little early for the ocean coho. There will be residents hanging around. Mid to late August OK and getting into gear, September it's GO Time, October, Big Pigs Time.

I have lots of salt gear that I began stocking up on last year. I have good success targeting Kings in the San Juans. Just haven't really spent a lot of time in the sound.

Guess I will wait for the fish to show up!

If your catching kings in the salt water you should be fine with coho. I wouldnt worry about it to much, they almost catch themselves, good luck

I posted this bit under the articles section last year about catching Silvers in Puget Sound. Not bragging but we did limit my boat 14 out of 15 times last Fall. Works for us!
