Advice: Taking kids to catch some pinks

So the duty of introducing my buddy's kids to salmon fishing has fallen on me. The kids are 11 and 14 and have fished bluegills and pumpkin seeds, but nothing more. With the pinks running strong I guess this is as good an opportunity as I can think of showing them a good outing. We are set for this Saturday.
Without a boat, my thoughts were to hit the beaches near Everett and up, maybe Whidbey, etc. The thing I wonder though is if it'll get very combat-y out there? With the kids' casting abilities questionable to begin with, I don't want to take them to a shoulder to shoulder beach, where their errant cast can be annoying to everyone.
If someone has a spot to share, let me know on PM. Don't give up your super secret spot for me, but any help would be appreciated!
p.s. BTW I was thinking maybe the Skagit too, but think salt may be more fun.
