melted pole tip

While I was camping at my friends cabin, I had my poles leaning up against the porch rails. My friend lit some tiki torches and accidently pushed one of my pole tips into the flame. As a result the about 1/2-3/4 of an inch melted and it now laying along side the pole. It didnt burn all the way through. This is a really nice trout pole and I hate to think that I might have to throw it away. Does anyone know if this could be fixed?? Any ideas would be great. Thanks kc

You can cut the end off and put a new tip on.

You say the tip was melted but when I read your description I get the feeling that the damage may be below the tip. That kind of damage can't be fixed and the only recourse is to cut below the damage and install a tip where you made the cut, as has been suggested. If it is just a inch or so of the very tip of the rod, it's rally not a bit deal. However if your talking about loosing 6" or more I'd look at getting a new one.

Wal-Mart, and probably any tackle store, sells a kit with tips and glue (hot glue similar stuff) And most tackle shops will fix it on the spot.

Edit: You're in Tacoma, Sportco in Fife will fix it for 3$. Just don't get your picture taken by the red light camera.

Check out this site:

Replacing/repairing a tip seems pretty straight forward with the right tools and supplies.
