RE:Brown bow?
I don't think so.
Browns are descendants of the Atlantic Salmon, and are themselves a European Trout.
Rainbows are descendants of the Steelhead, and are themselves an American Trout.
To the best of my knowledge, they are too distant in the genetic tree to cross, in the wild or in the hatchery.

Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

Re: Brown bow?
Def not possible, not because of the origins (tiger trout is a brook trout/brown trout hybrid), but due to the simple fact that browns are fall spawners and bow's are spring.

Sorry guys, old news, it's been done! Great question though, I had to look it up.

That's Crazy!!! I didn't think it was possible since they spawn at different times. They must have had to preserve eggs somehow or else find a specific run of browns that spawn early and/or a run of 'bows that spawn late.

I don't recall all I read about it, it was done right here at the UW and like the triploid, they just eat and don't spawn. They may have just froze the genes or some such. Remember a lot of our food is genetically enhanced these days. It's not just Darwinism any more with survival of the fitist or even selective breeding like dogs and horses.......
