LAKE CHELAN
Re: LAKE CHELAN
Already reserved for 5/14. Suppose I can change the reservation once final dates are set (will study the cancel/re-book policy closer now). Staying tuned.
Re: LAKE CHELAN
Looks like only $8 to change dates...no big deal. Will make the change once the date is settled.Already reserved for 5/14. Suppose I can change the reservation once final dates are set (will study the cancel/re-book policy closer now). Staying tuned.
Re: LAKE CHELAN
Looks like 5/14 is also the date of the Puget Sound shrimp opener for 2016 (http://wdfw.wa.gov/news/jan0716a/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;):
January 07, 2016

Puget Sound recreational shrimp fishery will open May 14
OLYMPIA – Recreational spot shrimp fishing in Puget Sound will open Saturday, May 14 – one week later than usual, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced today.
Shellfish managers are delaying the popular shrimp fishery until May 14 due to the extremely low tides that are expected to occur midday on the first Saturday in May, which traditionally marks the start of the season throughout Puget Sound.

Re: LAKE CHELAN
BTW Everyone, reservations at the State Park start May 1st, which is a Sunday. The ranger told me over the phone that it would be highly unlikely for the park to be anywhere near filled. Coming in Friday it's first come, first served, and should be plenty of spots.
I'm excited to try this venue and see what people think compared to the City Park.

Re: LAKE CHELAN
April 30th works as that is our 39th wedding anniversary; what better way to spend it then fishing and camping at Lake Chelan! Keep us updated so we can make plans!
Re: LAKE CHELAN
Thanks, Mike! Only challenge I foresee at this point will be moving my 3 night reservation back into dates that are 'non-reservable.' Once dates are confirmed I'll give it a whack and see what I need to do to get it all ironed out. Will work it out one way or the other. Looking forward to the event!!Mike Carey wrote:So sorry Fish Dawg, dinners on me.Fish Dawg wrote:Looks like only $8 to change dates...no big deal. I checked the fishing contest calendar on WDFW's fishing contest webpage and didn't see that it was permitted yet.Mike Carey wrote:I couldn't find it anywhere, but it's been that second week in May the last couple years so no reason to think it won't be.rseas wrote:We need to confirm the Lake Stevens Derby date. Aside from seeing it at the bottom of an events list I don't have an official confirmed date.

Mike the state park is great. Good boat launch, bathrooms with showers and plenty of parking.Mike Carey wrote:BTW Everyone, reservations at the State Park start May 1st, which is a Sunday. I have to thank Lance Merz of Mack's Lures for suggesting it. They will be sponsoring the event again this year.

Re: LAKE CHELAN
May 14th is the shrimp opener and the people in charge of the Lake Stevens derby are planning on holding fast on their date. area 7 west is open for 2 months for shrimp so im not worried about missing out on some shrimping. The earlier we do the meet up the better the fishing will be!
the State Park is a great place to hang out and camp, with the option of leaving your boat in the water as well. it also feels a little more like camping out there!

Re: LAKE CHELAN
Does "and the people in charge of the Lake Stevens derby are planning on holding fast on their date" mean the 14th. We heard from 2 others it was the 21st.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Re: LAKE CHELAN
Keep in mind as the dates for the Lake Chelan meet up are considered. One date mentioned was April 30th, that coincides and competes with the last weekend in April, which has been the annual trout opening day in Washington State since the beginning of time. This may help or hurt the overall turnout, since many families have a long standing, annual family history/tradition on this weekend!

Re: LAKE CHELAN
No matter what weekend we pick it's going to bump up with something. Gonna go with the 30th.MotoBoat wrote:Keep in mind as the dates for the Lake Chelan meet up are considered. Re: LAKE CHELAN
Checked the current regs (which appear to include our dates) and the notation for seasonal lakes is 4th Sat in Apr - Oct 31. For 2016 the 4th Saturday in April is the 22nd so it does not appear the event will bump into the lowland lakes opener.MotoBoat wrote:

I called the state parks office today and they can't change my reservation due to the reservable dates not beginning until 5/1 and no way to let the money ride without a reservation to attach it to, so I had to cancel the reservation and eat $22 cancellation fees. That's the way it goes. Still looking forward to another fun fishing and fellowship event! See y'all there.

Re: LAKE CHELAN
They don't take reservations for Lake Chelan until that weekend, Sunday. So Fri and Sat. it's first come, first serve. Ranger told me there would be plenty of spaces available. Here's the reservation link if you want to check things out site-wise:wablue wrote:is there going to be a link to the state park.is that the one across from the casino,do they have a hotel there.

I know it's a little unnerving going to Chelan without site reservations. The last three years that we were there the city park never filled up, so I don't think this will be a problem.
Fish Dawg - a thousand apologies! What size are you? We'll get you a free NWFR T-shirt with our next order.

I wonder if there might be a group camp ground that we could squeeze our rigs into? (At the State
Park)
