So they just bounce off all the breakwalls and rocks and create a windy Puget Sound scenerio. Added with a bunch of idiots out cruising there daddies speedboats and it can get crazy. (I wouldn't float tube it for any amount of money) But hey, there will be plenty of eye candy.
If I have any vote or say, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a smaller lake like a Pine, Beaver or even American to facilitate the motorists. Don't get me wrong, Tapps is cool and all, but mid-July might be too crazy. IMHO

But I'll be there no matter where it is. To much fun to miss. And something interesting always takes place.

Yeah...this will be an event that I will choose NOT to fish...I've been at Tapps twice and that was two more than enough for me personally. I do not enjoy the launch scene nor the majority of the boating activitieso nor the lack of general respect. This by no means is a slam on the selection of the event...just not my cup of tea. But I will be there to offer my support for any chores needed...and of course the fellowship. [sad]
I haven't been on Taps for about 15-18 years for those same reasons. Even the Police boat doesn't care if another boat cuts you off/fails to yield the right of way 50 yards in front of the Police boat.
you guys have obviously not been to Tapps in a long long time. You will see more fishing boats these days then skiers. Tapps is changing. My boat is not that big and I'll fish anywhere anytime on Tapps with No fear of waves. Take off yer panties and lets fish =) . Its not the party lake of years past anymore. alcohol had been banned at all of the parks and the dikes are off limits to the public now. You are now subject to a search before entering the park and if you have alcohol you will not be admited into the park. There is only one police boat on the lake now , but they dont put up with anything from you if your driving like an idiot. Drinking and boating on Tapps with get you busted fast these days. pretty much , the party is over. Let the fishing begin.

FYI stay off the dikes , you'll be hit with a tresspass fine if your caught on them now.

I agree with BucketMouth; it can be a great lake if you fish early. When we had our Tiger Muskie Chapter picnic there last year in July, we fished EARLY then were off the lake and eating (and Competition casting!!) by noon. It got super-choppy, but it was fun to just relax and watch the idiots; great time. There are a few of us coming to this one, too; Even tho we have a big 2 day Tournament the next weekend on Mayfield, it is always good to meet up with WL fans & wet a line at Tapps: beautiful scenery and if the weather is clear; the Mt. is spectacular! Good choice, Mike; it'll work. When we start the food list I am in for some CaveMan Ribs. yummo!!

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:
Let them do their job: Eating N.P.Minnows

If we were to have the picnic on pine or beaver it would be over lol
I have those lakes down to a science
But i think that would be fun to do one year as there is nice big parks in both.

OK everyone, let's get a list going as to the specifics of this year's event. Here goes:

We are moving back toward the original concept of a community picnic event, with fishing being a less "hard-core" part of the day.

The derby part of the day will be free to all members. We will have prizes for the top weight bass (largest bass) and largest perch.

There will be a raffle at the picnic which will be free to all.

There will be WL.com gift packs free to all. These will have WL.com logo type products.

The picnic is a POTLUCK lunch with WL.com providing hotdogs and buns. We'll start a sign up list and ask that you sign up to bring something.

Please see the NEW THREAD for RSVP and food sign-up!

You're encourage to bring family and friends, just make sure to let us know so we can plan for numbers and if you bring additional guests please bring extra grub.
