still have 10" of snow on the garden, will have to wait a few more weeks............need to move to a warmer place, green house is still 22 o at night......oh well, lots of time to get the boat set up.............

Ive had my first gardening accident which landed me in bed for a couple days. The ole lower back pain came back. No more rototilling . Its in such pain I even had to give up my fishing trip to the Cowlitz . Now back to gardening. I'm planting all hard to find items. Carrots in 5 colors. Purple, red, orange, white and yellow.Im trying different varieties. I used to plant beets but they are so inexpensive that I don't want to waste space on them. Same with onions and standard potatoes.I planted red and blue potatoes. Its fun trying new seeds.

Got the garden till'd 2 weeks ago. Was like sloggin thru a swamp. 30 ft x 30 ft for the main garden plus a raised herb garden and 6 barrels.

We did red potatoes in 3 of the barrels and they are the best spuds I have ever eaten. Im gonna miss having the greenhouse on the back porch. It made it super convenient to trim some baby lettuces' for a mix salad.

No luck with asparagus or brussel sprouts. :-(

I tried asparagus a few times. Not good with me either. Certain plants just don't thrive for me.Ive planted bamboo a few times with no luck. I have limited sun.

Asparagus does well over here in Yakima. It's also pretty cheap locally, so if you ever get over this way... I plant fish carcasses under all my plants, and they do really well. Not gonna waste any part of the fish!

Yep! We're are a little crazy when it comes to home grown food. We use no pestisides (spelling?) We have 3 fruit trees, my apple tree takes a beating from the critters that lay their eggs. 13 blue berry bushes, grapes, rasberry and marionberry going. In the garden, we have nine asparagus plants and we grow peas, beans, strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, green onions, beets, squashes, five big rhubarb plants. horseradishes, pumpkins etc. It's wonder we have time in the summer to go fishing or any boating. Somehow we've been able so far. Gardening does take a lot of work and you have to love it. You should see my water bill during the sunny months. Holycow... but, you just can't beat homegrown for freshness and goodness.

Peas are going finally. Got tomatoes and strawberries to keep my boys interested they can have there own to take care of.

Good news

The asparagus we planted last year is coming up and the seedlings are do well also. REALLY looking forward to harvest.

We also decided to put the new greenhouse on the back porch. We have already harvested fresh lettuces for dinner.
