Anchorage in June

I am going to be in Anchorage for the first 2 weeks of June. Any suggestions as to some places reasonably close to do some fishing but NOT combat :rambo: fishing. I have seen the pics of the crowds at most of the rivers around there and I would rather go hiking than fish like that. I am open to a charter, river or lake fishing for just about anything.

Make sure and check out Ship Creek. Flossing at it's finest.
Watch out for Bears too. :cyclops:

Watch out for bears on Bird Creek which is in Anchorage as well.

Not at Ship Creek. Can't remember the golf course I played when I was there, but I did see a rumbling bear on the green ahead of me. :cyclopsan

I'd rather run the risk of seeing a bear than have to rub elbows while I fish.

Any last minute suggestions? I leave for Anchorage Monday. There appear to be a couple lakes real close to town. I really don't want mess with Ship Creek unless by some miracle there is a time it is not too crowded.

You can rent gear there. It wasn't crowded at all when I went in July. Flossing is accepted there.

Spent many hours on Ship Creek but got skunked. What do you expect when you are fishing with hundreds of people and only 3 fish get caught in your vacinity I guess. However, had a great time and it was my first time ever fishing a river for salmon. Hope to keep honing my newfound skills back in Washinton. Any advice on when, where and how to fish Salmon in freshwater in WA is appreciated too.
