Muskies, Inc. is the oldest (1966) and biggest (over 7,500 members) muskie club in the U.S. with the single focus of improving the sport of muskie fishing. They are a national voice for the protection of the muskie species.
Perry Peterson, Vice President of Internal Affairs of Muskies, Inc. International, says: “If you sign-up to be a member of Muskies Inc. that night, you will receive a "FREE" raffle ticket to win a muskie bait package worth $35.00. That is the cost of joining, and there will be three lucky winners! That's a $105.00 give away! All prizes awarded that night.
Much like the National Bass Federation, NRA, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation, Pheasants Forever,; you pay your membership to a National Organization and they supply Magazine Subscriptions, Grant money, National Symposiums on keeping the sport healthy and strong. Muskies Inc. has expanded to 52 independent local chapters throughout the country. They have become a national voice for the protection of the muskie species.
Besides monthly meetings and the Muskies Inc. magazine subscription, the chapter will focus on techniques of muskie fishing and where to fish for them. Members can talk to the experts, provide in-put on management, regulations, limits, etc, as well as enjoy the camaraderie of other LOCAL muskie enthusiasts. As members, you can post your fish on the National Muskie Log; over 200,000 muskies are posted there. A newsletter and a web page could be available to all those outside of meeting range.
Muskies Inc. is an active, service orientated, 501(c)3 non-profit organization for men, women and children with the single focus of improving the sport of muskie fishing, wherever the fish are found. Founded in 1966 by Gil Hamm in St. Paul, Minnesota, the original group of 13 avid muskie fishermen concentrated on continual improvement of the muskie resource through rearing and stocking efforts and sound conservation practices.
Today, DNR and Fish & Wildlife departments have realized the value of stocking muskies. There are 37 of the lower 48 states with active muskie stocking programs.
Muskies Inc. is also widely recognized as the first organized group of sports anglers to espouse the “Catch and Release” practice now embraced by many of the conservation minded groups throughout North America.

RE:SECOND Muskies, Inc. Chapter in WA.; now in Spokane!
Hope everyone on this side of the state gets involved and we can make this happen. We need a chapter on this side. Just think of the fun it would be eastside against westside tournements. I think having a chapter on this side will incourage more people to join nowing they can make the meetings a little easier then having to go to the other side of the state. We need to educate more people about Muskies and Pike. Hope everyone shows up to support this cause on Saturday night.....

RE:SECOND Muskies, Inc. Chapter in WA.; now in Spokane!
Thanks Norm, thanks Craig. Yes, it should be a lot of fun. These muskie lure packages we are giving away are the same price as a one year membership, so 3 lucky people will go home very happy! Better hurry tho, some of these lures are looking pretty good to ME and you all know I have a weakness for lures!!
It is exciting to a a part of Muskies, Inc. The people are great, friendly and just passionate about these fish.
You might be surprised to see some familiar faces in the room, too! We sure talked to a bunch of esox fans at the Spokane Great Western Sportfishing Show in Spokane last spring. Thanks for sharing all those emails- looking forward to getting a chance to know you all better.
It will be YOUR Chapter, totally run by and for Eastsiders. CH. 57 is only here to assist or lend a hand to get you started. We also helped New Mexico start their first Tiger Muskie Chapter of M.I. last year and those guys can tell you it is some work, but a lot of fun, too! Most Tiger Muskie anglers are pretty dedicated anyway - starting a Chapter will be a worthwhile endeavor, just ask New Mexico: http://www.newmexicomuskiesinc.org
They were just awarded a $5,400 Grant from Muskies, Inc. to help with their Tiger Muskie Program.
There are a lot of generous and helpful people all across the country who have made this organization the very best.
I am so happy we may get another Chapter in the Northwest!!
See you all Saturday night!

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:

RE:SECOND Muskies, Inc. Chapter in WA.; now in Spokane!
Sorry I couldn't make the meeting last night. Sounds like if things get rolling I will have to join the crew. Fished for Muskies in Wisconsin for years as a kid, and just recently got back into it here in Spokane. Caught my first Tiger just last Sunday on Newman. She was a nice and fat 36-38" fish. It was so convenient... Caught her right near the dock on the way back in. Got to show the wife and 6year old. My 12 year old step-son was ecstatic! Even though he didn't catch her, I think I made him a new member to the Muskie fishing world!

Hi Dougw! Sorry you could not join us on Saturday, but there will be lots of opportunity in the future.
Being from Wisconsin, you probably already know all about Muskies, Inc. and all the things they have accomplished for the muskie fisheryand the benefits that come from being a member. We have many, many anglers in the club who are former Mid-Westeners, you will fit right in, LOL.
I am sure Craig Dowdy , above, will be in touch with you. There will be another meeting set in the near future; there was significant interest shown and anglers seemed really pleased about a Spokane based club.
Fantastic photo by the way, how exciting! How fun for your kids to get to see one; they are mesmerizing, eh? I never tire of watching them, just wish I could catch more, lol.
Post more pictures when you get them and don't forget to post reports in the Fishing Reports section on this Forum - that way they stay with the lake reports and you and others can access them in the future.
Stay tuned for more on the Eastside Chapter!! I can't wait to see what they pick for a name and a logo

RE:SECOND Muskies, Inc. Chapter in WA.; now in Spokane!
Thanks for the warm welcome and the info. Craig, I am sending you a message in short order. I would love to go on the Pend Oreille River Tournament, but by that date I will be in Wisconsin for vacation. I will of course be making a day or two trip to my old muskie haunts to see how they are holding out! I'll post the tiger in the photo on the fishing reports section shortly as well.
