Box For A Small Battery?
I got one of those small rechargeable batteries for my new fish finder. But I'm having an issue of finding a suitable box to protect it and such.
I made a crappy ghetto box for my old depthfinder. It used those small 12v lantern battery.
LOL, but it worked. But with new equipment, I'm hoping to make things look a bit nicer and cleaner.:dj:
I need something that I can open up quickly and disconnect the battery. No need for a switch. Just a small hole for the power wires.
Measurements for the battery is 4"H x 6"L X 2-1/2"W

Speaking of which. Might head over to Sawyer or Meridian in the morning. I installed my new transducer yesterday. Need to check if I got any leaks and it works.Amx wrote:Trailer breakaway battery box at a trailer supply store? Motorcycle battery box?

I plan on being on one of those lakes myself tomorrow. Haven't decided which, or what time for sure.

Is it a sealed lead acid battery like this one?
If so, try a plastic Plano box, they come in just about any size imaginable. Secure the box with screws or a strap to your boat and use some Velcro tape to secure the battery inside the box.

Well, if you see someone trying to bail water out of their boat, or someone trying to fix their birdnest on their 1st baitcaster, it'll probably be me. lolAmx wrote:I plan on being on one of those lakes myself tomorrow. Haven't decided which, or what time for sure.

That's why I stick mostly with spinning. I'm much more accurite and better distance. I only use the casting reels and rods for flippin, and DEEP cranks. My thumb is only sorta kinda educated.FishingFool wrote:Well, if you see someone trying to bail water out of their boat, or someone trying to fix their birdnest on their 1st baitcaster, it'll probably be me. lolAmx wrote:I plan on being on one of those lakes myself tomorrow. Oh ya, I've read recently that when casting with a cranking outfit, to cast easy and not to force the cast. Works for me.

Here's a battery box for you. It's made from a waterproof Pelican case.
It comes complete with a 12V battery.
Here's the site:http://www.kayakfishingsupplies.com/ser ... wer/Detail
And here's a Youtube video of another make it your self battery box, just to help with some ideas.
The lighted switch is way cool:

that is very cool Big D, but not $90 cool, lol. At least not yet.
I may have found a box at Battery Plus. Gonna head down there and check it out.
But looking at that. Looks like it's a Pelican 1120 case. Since I dont need the battery, might be able to build 1 similar for much less.

Have you considered a military ammo box? You can drill a hole for wires wherever you want.
Here is a link.

Joe you got! An ammo box would be perfect!......... I just checked the fit. If a guy was crafty he could put a couple of poles through it and hookup from the outside. But be warned even sealed batteries outgas when they're charged and discharged.
Build a man a fire and he's warm for the night. Light a man on fire and he's warm the rest of his life!

Kayakers have this issue pretty well figured out. You could take a look at how I did it for mine, and check through the entire "drillin and cuttin" section to find other ideas. Anything that says "FF" or "transducer" usually involves at least a picture of the battery setup.

There are Coleman coolers in almost every size. I like them because they float when I flip over.

I'm going to build the pelican case for my fishfinder battery eventually. Right now, I havent had a problem with it just sitting on top of the bottom. It doesnt even move when I putt around.
