twitchin jigs for coho

Post by spokey9 » Tue Oct 05, 2010 6:44 pm

i'm tyin up a few jigs to try twitchin for silvers on the green an the skookumchuk, anybody got any suggestions on material an colors? i've looked around a lil bit online to find something to pattern an havent found to many ideas on what the jig needs to look like other than extending the material farther back off the hook to give it more action.

jigs for coho

There's a pic on this article with good colors I use 1/2 oz jigs lighter than that sinks to slow when jigging

hey my type of topic. when twitchin jigs 10lbs line is best. makes the jig dance more then 12lbs 9' to 9'6" rods are best. spinning reels are best for this tactic. twitch it at a medium pace nothing like pink jiggin. purple, black and orange are the best colors to use in my book along with flashy jigs. 1/4 to 3/8 max for jig size. small yes but very effective. and remember this MARIBOU JIGS for the fluffy ness in the water and gives the best action

When tying marabou jigs specifically for coho you want to use more material that you otherwise would. Ad more and longer feathers to impart more action on the jig. Short hits are common, but once you get the feel for it you won't miss too many.
