Post by dougw » Tue Nov 16, 2010 2:50 pm

Anyone else been hitting the water for tigers this late? I'll be out at the end of the week (Thursday and Friday)..... I'll have to report back..... I know it will be slow, but I just want to tag one more fish before I close my season!

Nope. Just moved and have been busy with that.

Im over an hour away from the local Musky lake and since they dropped the water level for the winter, I cant launch the boat there till spring. So it's a 5 hour round trip driving to the closest Musky fishing lake (Mayfield) for me until then.

With the drive to Lake Wa only being 10 min, I will be targeting other species for the most part until Lake Tapps is launchable.

BUT... I have heard rumors of Tigers in Lake Wa... [-o<

Had a fantastic day on the water. I ended up boating two tigers! One was 35" and the other 33". They were both very lethargic and hit very lightly. In fact, I honestly thought the first one was a clump of weeds at first. Caught the first one 15 minutes into the trip and the last 15 minutes before I left! If fishing is going to be this good, I will keep fishing into the winter!

I posted photos in the report. The self-timer was set for 30 seconds, and when it finally went off the sun had peeked out, giving me a not so great photo. At least you can see the fish okay!

Mark, I think the first one may have been the 35" fish I caught with you earlier this year. Same spot as that fish was caught, and same size. So maybe she was letting me catch her again so I could get a photo this time!!!! LOL.....

Awesome Job Doug! I'm glad that new bait worked so good for you! I thought the one you got earlier this year in that spot was a 37? I really wish I could have made it out now. Next time! I would like to hit Silver, and the river at least once more each this year. I was completely content with being done for the season, and now I have the itch again!!

You're right.... It was 37". I just found that when I entered them into the lunge log. For some reason I was thinking it was 35".... Maybe we can make it out this next week. I just checked that website, and they are sold out of the Perch color already, but still have the RB trout and some others. It's called the Swimmin Joe, by Joe Bucher. $7.99.... I might order a couple more so I have some spares... They are normally $21.99! Talk about a great deal.....

Today wasn't like last Friday. Not a fish in sight. At least it wasn't -10. Actually warmed up to above freezing. Had to break a little ice.

Nice catches. I can't believe your still fishing none the less catching. I'm guessing this latest snow and cold put a stop to it. Great pictures. Doug you are truly a diehard, hats off to ya.

Quite honestly, the days in November I have tried for muskies were MUCH nicer than the day we participated in the POR Pike tourney..... I may go out one more time. Have to break in the new St. Croix rod I got for my birthday!

I don't know how you talked me in to going out Doug but it was fun even though we didn't get anything!

Doug's a machine, I swear he would have no problem swimming a few laps in that 42 degree water! And I'm starting to think he photo shopped those pics just to get a fishing partner for the day. lol
And no, it wasn't nearly as bad as the weather at the Pend Oreille Tourney. That was rough.

Is it March yet?

Only response I have is this... If I photo shopped, the photo would have looked better! No sun background! LOL!!! I am still thinking of going out again..... Maybe we need to go hit the river..... Still would like to break in the new rod on a muskie though.... We'll see......

Maybe your just a photo shop rookie! It really is awesome you had a 2 fish day in November. I had lost faith that another one would be caught this year. Proved me wrong!

Just keep in touch. Let me know when your heading out. The river would be fun! Hint Hint!!
