How NOT to hold a Musky

Post by Rich McVey » Wed Nov 17, 2010 11:15 am

I saw this on the web. I cringe when seeing this pic. Supposedly this was a CPR fish.

](*,) I swear there should be some kind of class you take before you can go fishing that helps you learn how to handle fish. I have seen salmon and steelhead released after being held by the gills and dropped, trout death gripped, big bass held by the lip and cranked. it makes me sick.

That photo has to be from the mid 80s, or maybe from Napolean Dynamite's home town.

Can't tell you how many pike I held like that as a kid. Never released them though, except into a frying pan! That is not good for a release though....

Looks like a scan of a photo. Was posted on a Facebook Musky page. I'm still cringing.

The bathing suit style and boat windows is what made me think that more than the photo quality.

OUCH..... What the hell, [scared]

Some people just have no idea what they are doing. This is a great example of why it's so important to continue to educate the public wherever and whenever possible. :study:

This may keep me up a night…..

I guess I need to email them and tell them to add another "NO!" drawing to this.
