Thinking of hitting it tomorrow, and maybe again Saturday.... the weather is kind of doing whatever it wants right now so I am playing it by ear.... Looks like the river got dropped about half a foot - a foot last night, but my guess is they will be bringing it back up this afternoon/evening, plus all this rain! The Sky went up about 3 feet overnight last night while I was at work, it was really comin down up there.
If we DO get out tomorrow, I will be sure to post up a report for everyone heading down Saturday.

A Cowlitz update for those planning to fish tomorrow:
Launched at Blue Creek at about 7am and fished with the WAlakes member Bawk Bawk on my boat, tons of boats out, lots of bankies too. Water was high but not ridiculous, visibility about 1-2 feet. Bawk Bawk picked up a nice little buck about 4-5lbs, chrome bright. Only saw 1 other fish caught all day, about a 4 lb kelt.
Pretty damn slow down there.

Cowlitz report.... Fished all day sat. Had to have been more than 50 boats on the water. Lots of bankies, but not as many as I have seen before. We fished the BC area up and down river about a mile each way. Nada. Only saw 2 fish caught all day. It was a circus. Dispite all the boats, most people were very curtious and friendly with the exception of one idiot with a mouth. Guy was in a drift boat anchored up in a hole. We drifted past him on a drift run. When we got near him I asked "Having any luck?" As I do everyone we get near. The guy replied" Not with you right next to me!" What a tool. Had a good day on the water though. The new TR-1 freeking rocks! Its a kick to sit in my chair on the deck and steer the boat.

RE:Winter Steel
Fished the Grande Ronde River for 4 days, wednesday thursday, friday and saturday. Got 21 fish on, and landed 16 of them in the three days. Fished both washington section by the hatchery and above, in oregon for natives running up. Got some beautiful fish, natives especially big and bright. Caught some nice hatchery fish out of our drift boat in the washington section. All the hatcheries below were in washington, and all the natives were in oregon, so its legal to hold them out like i did. Great trip. I got a lot of pics, check out what were our nicest, brightest biggest fish below. Ingihuswick@hotmail.com- Wish i knew what you looked like, probably could have said hi to you on the 9th, i fished the morning in the middle of the hatchery hole, where the second creek comes in (cottonwood) Caught 4 there early. It was a good morning wasnt it, but the bite did turn off. Sounds like you did well too. Nice fish!

RE:Winter Steel
Had my eyes peeled but didn't see you. I was all over the place from Barrier to way downstream from BC. Brutal rain but WT.... About 2:30 it cleared up and got pretty nice. Most everyone was pretty good and nice on the drifts. I figured out pretty quick the etiquette is WOT to the top of the hole. I like it that way. There were a few places where the bankies hung and you just go to the other side of the river. No fish this time but the big myth about the scary Cow is gone. The Skagit is much faster and scarier than anything I saw. Did bonk my kicker on a drift and broke the prop. Better than the boat.....Jaksonbrown wrote:Cowlitz report.... Fished all day sat. RE:Winter Steel
Surprised none of you guys commented on the 2 jackholes on the jet skis. I didn't think they were too bad, but one of them a on a couple occasions made passes in front of us while we were drifting. No fish in our boat 0/2 saturday but a buddy in a different sled took home 2 small hens. Most fish I seen caught were no bigger than 5 pounds. The guy in the wheelchair early in the morning banked a nice one.

RE:Winter Steel
The guys in the jets skis were pretty crazy. Free drifting a sit down jetski. I didnt think I would ever see that day. Seeing how they were in chest waders, It would have been pretty dangerous to have fallen off one of those things....as neither one was wearing a life vest.jens wrote:Surprised none of you guys commented on the 2 jackholes on the jet skis. One of them almost ran into my bow....... He got out of the way in just the nick...... I didn't see him till he was real close, tough to see through the cab. Al vs Glass = glass splinters..... I like the way he was sporting the net!jens wrote:Surprised none of you guys commented on the 2 jackholes on the jet skis.
