Help dating a vintage reel? Mitchell #304

Post by Shredder101 » Fri Apr 29, 2011 3:42 am

If anyone can help please share your knowledge..
This is a Mitchell Garcia #304.
Does anyone have any memories of this reel?
Purchased this one over the winter season in the original box with all paper work. Looking forward to using it.... Just want to catch a nice fish then and hang it on the wall with the rest of memorabilia?
Any memories you would like to share?

I saw a reel ad calling it "Mitchell Garcia 1963 304"
Had a few as a kid.

This is a GREAT Mitchell website. Go through it carefully, there are a lot of links to historical reels, many pics. etc.

Look under the Mitchell reel photographs area for more specific model # info.

That's just wrong....... Well I guess we are a bunch of fish nuts..

I would have to say pre '65. I got one for my 10th birthday and it had a round body. Unless the pic is realy distorted.

I remember the round body Mitchell. I wanna say it was lighter weight then the 300. Mostly used for lakes. But then my memory needs more Ram.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
