2011 Season River Trophies

Post by jens » Fri Apr 29, 2011 5:28 pm

The top fish pictured measured 35x18 inches 14.63lbs; My personal best. I went 5/5 yesterday. All on jigs and all using my Curado and this fish bit on a 1/16th jig that I tied up. A new pattern that I have been messing with..I am starting to love using a baitcaster for everything now..
My spinning reels are going to start collecting dust..

I remember casting out, looking around.. Look to find my bobber.. Blink a few times.. blink again.. What the? Where the?...then all of a sudden I feel the ultimate Tug Drug...

FISH ON!! I knew right away this was a good fish. A guy I was fishing next to asked me if I needed the "N" word(net).. I cringed because the last 5 fish I have lost all have been the result of me asking for the "N" word, but this time I didn't ask for a net, I asked for a landing device.. lol

The rules:

Any species.
It must either be a 1st or a Personal best.
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

Not 100% sure about the personal best on this one, my PB before this was 18.1 on steelhead, but this one I measured out before released, and by the formula it says 18.6 (40 by 18). So, i thought id post it. No people around, so its not a good pic, got him on the last day the vedder was open this year

I don't normally but I was curious. He was big and deep and chrome and put up a good fight. Biggest I've caught so far. Ate one side of him tonight baked and the rest is in the brine for the smoker tomorrow.

My personal best king salmon. Not Sure on weight but was checked by a wildlife biologist and they measured the beast and it was 34 inches long.

Biggest pink of the year, think it might be a personal best. At least in recent memory. Just a tad over 26 inches and girth just shy of 15 1/2 inches. Think that worked out to about 8 pounds.

It was the exception Gringo Pescador (for photo purposes, I kept it intact :) )- here's what happened to the others I caught #-o :-" so people better understand the unorthodox cleaning method I use. Look ma, no slime! No skin either:-" :
