How big is this fish???
Had a good day of fishing today, Tied into 5 nice fish and wished I had a scale in the boat. Here is a pic of the biggest one, It measured 22 inches from tip of the tale to the lips in a straight line. Any guesses on weight?
RE:How big is this fish???
It looks to be in 5 to 6lb range.
RE:How big is this fish???
Hard to say. Some websites estimate 22 inch fish at 6 to 6 1/2 pounds. Kind of a crap shoot, girth has alot to do with it too. I'd guess between 4 and 5 pounds? Scale might be a good investment. LOL
RE:How big is this fish???
I'd guess 5-5 1/2 lbs. Damn nice fish.

I think at 22in could be 7-8 pounds. Goog fishing!
My Dad would say," Boy, some people just can't fish"

For future catches, take the length of the fish and also get the girth (widest part). With those two measurements, there a several web sites that give pretty good estimates.
Nice Fish, and I suggest about 6 pounds.

Too much water, so many fish, too little time.
RE:How big is this fish???
HARD TO TELL FROM A PICTURE BUT I'll guess 5-6 lbs
RE:How big is this fish???

Certain fish at 22 inch are for sure 7-8 lbs, but looking at his fish I would say 6lb even. Still a heck of a fish, and buy a quality scale and never look back man.The HAWG HUNTER wrote:I think at 22in could be 7-8 pounds. Goog fishing!

Today I caught a bass that was 23" length and 16" girth, my personal best. Using those numbers, a website estimator says 8.3 lbs. Any opinion if that weight is fairly accurate?

Did you get a picture ? Either way, you'll never know the truth Buy a quality digital scale, around $30 depending on brand and you are good to go. You can always buy $$+ if you like but a Berkley digital works great.
Re: RE:How big is this fish???
I caught a bass with those exact dimensions 23" x 16" a week or so ago and it was 6lbs 10oz on my Berkley scale that goes to the 1/4oz.ChrisB wrote:ral wrote:Today I caught a bass that was 23" length and 16" girth, my personal best. Re: How big is this fish???
Thanks for the reply. I don't like to hear 6lb 10 oz, but so be it.

Very nice bass no matter the weight but I would have to agree with Kzoo - probably between 5 and 6 pounds. It would have been heavier prior to the spawn.
