Pics coming also is this setup good?
Re: Can I?
Sure you can. You can use anything. BUT! How good is it, and what is best.
Oh ya, what is the 'action' of the rod?

Try it out your self, and see if the rod holds

Re: Can I?
sure like amx said you can use anything. if your in a drift boat no problem. big rivers with lotta flow good luck. a 6.6 rod just dont have the back bone to fight 10# steel and flow. be alotta fun
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught....

Re: Can I?
In my opinion , it depends on the river im fishing . When im fishing a small creek, like Dewatto for silvers- I use a 7' rod , sometimes 6'6(the 6'6 is heavy action, the 7' s medium heavy). Dewatto isnt wide at all, maybe 9 or 10 feet wide . And not deep at all where i fish its only 4 or 5 feet deep. maybe shallower.
When on the skok- a river thats a bigger, where i fish its pretty wide. And prob 14-15 feet deep (where the fish hold). And for rivers about this size, and where im standning i like rods 8'6- 9'. Medium Heavy Action.
And for bigger rivers, like the Cowlitz i like to use 10'6 rods. Just my opinion.
The longer rods let me get out further with thinner line.
But in the small creek like dewatto, i like the shorter rods to give me more control on the fish.
But give it a try, and if you hook into one- take your time, dont horse it in, tire it out, and bring it in !

Re: Can I?
My short opinion is, yes. However, you're gonna have a fun time tying that very small diameter 12# braid to that much larger diameter and stiffer 10# mono though. Just getting 30# braid to marry to 8# mono has given me fits. Takes some practice to get the knot to hold. Good luck with whatever you do.

Looks like a fishy set-up !
If your not having any luck on just the jig , try adding some eggs.

Re: Can I?
I dont think its fishable water, the rivers were blown out, if the weather keeps up like it is now... it might be fishable in mid week
