Washingtonlakes.com fishing tourney?
You guys ever thought of throwing a fishing tourney to raise $$? I'd be in for something like that! Not that I'd win, but I wouldnt mind giving my money for a fun day of fishing with like minded folks.

Wow. This is an awesome idea. You could have a 70% payback and just keep the rest. I think this is the foundation to a potentially great idea...

I would enter it fore sure. And too make it fair for the whole state (with the price of gas right now) you could have one in eastern and western WA

A fun idea, something to keep in mind. I think I can speak for Aaron - we are way too busy!!!
But definately something for the future.

RE:Washingtonlakes.com fishing tourney?
Great idea, but I agree with Mike. Right now I'm just too busy. How much do tournaments like this usually cost to enter?
RE:Washingtonlakes.com fishing tourney?
$20-$200
It just depends on the caliber of the tournament. $100 for a team tourney (two people per boat) isn't unreasonable.

ya talking bass or trout?
When you think you know it all, its time to quit. Knowledge should be gained on every trip.
RE:Washingtonlakes.com fishing tourney?
I don't think I would win one either, but I would happy to enter one with my daughter.
RE:Washingtonlakes.com fishing tourney?
We're just throwing out ideas for Mike and Aaron. Could be either -- or both.skeeter bassin wrote:ya talking bass or trout?

You gotta throw Walleyes into the mix also. Have like a week long derby somewhere in the middle of the state? I'd be interested in getting in it. =d>

You would need a permit from WDFW.

Sounds like we could have 2 or 3 different tourneys. Mike/Aaron, I know you guys said you're too busy but we will continue to enjoy talking about it.

You could host one tourney and make it a multi-species event. I have put one together with this format and it went off without a hitch. We did Bass, Trout, Crappie and Cats. Alot of people went for cats thinking big and a trout won it. We gave individual prizes for biggest fish in each catagory and one grand prize for the biggest fish.
You can easily get sponsors too. I ended up writing a professional style letter to everyone and there moms. Anyone from Bass Pro Shops to Gamakatsu to Tony Romas and many ma & pa stores in between. Our response was amazing. By tourney time we had 30 sponsors who donated anything to gift certs. to tackle and even a trolling motor. Put it this way, we had so much stuff we had a huge raffle before the awards were even handed out.
I have pics of the whole event in my photobucket - link below. Click on FNN Extravaganza folder.
I think this is a great idea. I do think it should be a lake that offers good shorefishing, kayaking, floattubing and boating, just to make it fair to all.
If you guys need help or ideas just PM me and I'll see what I can do.
Ohh! and one more thing, the guy who won the whole thing, had one leg! Ya, and he was a float tuber. You can see it in the pic, 1st row 4th pic. You just never know.

RE:Washingtonlakes.com fishing tourney?
sounds like I just heard someone volunteer to organize the event...
might be fun.... I think the trick will be to find a place and a time of year where the weather, the water, and the fishing opportunities are working in great harmony......

Fish doesn't smell "fishy" because it's fish. Fish smells "fishy" when it's rotten.

RE:Washingtonlakes.com fishing tourney?
hey! i would go for some sort of contest but you would need to include the shore fisherpersons. they have contests that use pictures of your catch in the midwest, they ran biggest fish of the week, month and year, all species. use to enter them years ago. biggest fish won fishing, camping, gear worth so much per week and gets better for the month to the grand finale at the end of the year, just another thought. <')//<
