Sorry Chris, I'm just positive you or anyone else for that matter don't need drugs to keep from getting sea sick. I've been out with many people that thought they were going to get sea sick, until I kicked them in the.... and took their mind off it. Go out in the right frame of mind and keep busy, keep your head up and watch the horizon. All the things you need to do while fishing.

Rock on, what ever it takes.

Just saying, a drug free method is acupuncture, if you can stand the needles. I went for my tendinitus, and my cousin swears by it for motion sickness. Really is the neatest thing, and the first time I went I thought it was all granola eating and kumbaya, which it totally is, but it still works.

Ok, everyone saying its mind over matter. Yada yada yada #-o Its very much a real thing. I have gone out and tried dramamine the day of, night before and the day before. The day before take one in the morning, one at night then one the morning of. I get very sea sick in the ocean. Puking, then heaving from having nothing left is no fun at all. Take pedialyte in the powder form then mix with water if you do get sick. Or even if someone else does. They'll appreciate it. One bottle of pedialyte is the same as an IV. I'll tell ya, it is fun to be out there and feel the waves while fishing and not be sick! lol. Dramamine makes me pretty tired though. Even the low drowsy version. And yes. I think a thread about sea sickness should be a sticky on a fishing forum as it is VERY relevant :) Everyone who doesnt get sea sick will tell you that its mind over matter blah blah blah. Being one who is fine on lakes and in the sound, I get very sick out in the ocean unless I take dramamine twice the day before and the day of. Good luck!

I commercial fish and have seen people green and puking for as long as a week. the patch works well for most(i believe is scopamine, but whatever the name, the lil stick on thing behind the ear) but make sure you put it on a couple hours before you go out. I have went to westport and been out on a chartered trip with guys who swear they have never got sick and they were all puking, i even almost lost my breakfast. Like other people said, dont lay down and watch the horizon if you can, but i would have to say from the methods I know of, the patch is the best bet, just go to the doctor and tell them you are going fishing and dont want to get sea sick and they will hand out the patches like candy. hope this reaffirms what has already been stated.

I used to get sick like crazy when I would fly my gliders. I had limited experience with seasickness, but the one time I did go out years ago, I got really sick. Then a pilot buddy of mine recommended Meclizine. I take it starting about 5pm the night before and then when I wake up, and then every six hours after. It has cured me.... FWIW....
