Here is the emergency rule change, which is still up on the WDFW website and still specifies GAME fish:
https://fortress.wa.gov/dfw/erules/efis ... sp?id=1130" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Here is the text of the email I received from them when I asked for confirmation that I was reading the regulations and rules correctly:
From: "Team MillCreek (DFW)" <
TeamMillCreek@dfw.wa.gov>

Subject: RE: Question Regarding Snohomish River Closure
You have read the regulations and the closure correctly. As of Feb 1st you will not be able to fish for game fish, but sturgeon will remain open at this time.
Sincerely,

Subject: Question Regarding Snohomish River Closure
Hello WDFW,
I just wanted to clarify the emergency rule posted here for a closure of the Snohomish System starting Feb 1, 2012:
https://fortress.wa.gov/dfw/erule/efish ... ?id=3D1130" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
According to my reading, the system will be closed to GAME fish (I.E. Steelhead, Bass, etc. as defined on pg 18 of the regulations), but will remain open to FOOD fish (Specifically Sturgeon as called out on the same page of the regulations). Can you confirm this is the case?
Thank you,
Not calling you a liar or anything, but if people were cited for fishing illegally then they were cited wrongly and should fight and get it thrown out in court.

The citations I heatd of being written were last season, not this season. I haven't seen a game warden diwn at the Marysville ramp all season this year and I'm down ghere frequently.
I guess I was wrong, it looks like the loophole may have still been in play this season.

More regs, less fish. Soon there are going to be so many rules that you'll have to have a law degree to go fishing.

I know right. And now they needed to make a whole new section for coastal rivers. Here in washington we like to run our fisheries like our government.
