Westport charter
Hi walakers,
I'm looking to go mid week in the next couple of weeks to Westport with my son to do some charter fishing. We are looking do bottom fishing on a budget, any suggestions of a captain?

Hey Toolman! Personally, go with either the Tequila Too or the Slammer. They do light tackle on the slammer which is fun but the Capt. of the Tequila Too was his mentor and has the best record and length of time fishing Westport than any Captain/boat out of there.

Re: Westport charter
Does it have to be Westport?
Can't say enough good things about, " Tom Burlingame, Excel Fishing Charters" goes out of Neah Bay. Besides a great guide, he's a very good guy to hang out with.

Re: Westport charter
Not to mention much nicer scenery.
Re: Westport charter
Have been fishing with Capt Geoff Grillo aboard the FV Advantage (http://www.advantagecharters.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) for about 20 years. IMHO he is best in the business hands down. Great guy, patient with kids young and old, hires excellent deck hands, and works his butt off to put you on and keep you on fish!
If there's room on his boat, you won't be disappointed.
Good luck and tight lines!

Be sure to bring that over the counter drug for nausea. Crossing the bar isnt fun for some people.

I believe it's called Bonine and taking one before you go to bed the night before the trip and another in the morning when you wake-up will pretty well squash any motion related heebie jeebies.returnofthefish wrote:Be sure to bring that over the counter drug for nausea. Re: Westport charter
+100 on the slammer.... Rhett is an awesome captain and he will put you on fish.....
Re: Westport charter
A friend and I fished with Rhett on the Slammer last year. There were 19 people on the boat that day. He pulled up on a spot, all 19 of us limited out on sea bass, then he took us to a ling cod spot and everyone limited out on them as well. When I go back, it will be with him on the Slammer.
