Best time of day for steelhead?

Post by kyamukun » Thu Jun 05, 2014 10:11 am

I'm guessing early morning and late evening are best, but would like to get some thoughts on this. In my limited experience with the winter run (I managed to catch 2 this past season) I caught them late afternoon. But both the fish I caught were the only bites I got all day and this past winter apparently was a very bad season.

An hour before the sun comes up. When the sky starts getting gray. Steelhead are most active at night, the move in and settle down. Why do you think we all get up so early?
