Three Days In Westport

Post by MarkFromSea » Sat Jun 28, 2014 6:43 pm

I just submitted a report but figured the forum would enjoy a few saltwater pictures. Fished 6/24-6/26. Non stop action in the deeper waters, 200-300' depths to the SW and W currently. You may have to catch and release quite a few before obtaining a couple of keeper hatch coho or a legal chinook but it's a heck of a lot of fun!

I don't know what that blue thing is but there were literally thousands of those floating in the water's surface. About 2-3" diameter, 15ish miles off of the coast.

I've seen quite a few of those black floats this year further off of the coast as well. I can only guess it's debris from Japan, but really, who knows? They do have the oddest tiny muscles on them, hundreds it seems on just one float!

The large gunny sack is full of 20 sea bass. That day I had a friend on board, we did really well! The ling measured just shy of 40". My largest this year! LOL Maybe the largest since I won the daily derby on a charter about 10 years ago.

I hope ya enjoy! I've spent most of my time here at WALakes reading the forums instead of the reports. I love the reports too so keep em coming! [flapper]

Thanks Jay! There should have been more pictures but, I was pretty busy catching fish or looking for them. I didn't miss the internet at all. LOL [confused]

If you're free later today, come up to get half the ling! I appreciated the offer on the costco battery trip and I know you're salivating for some cod! [woot]

Yep, they are Velellas...same family as the Portugese Man of War, but their toxin isn't a threat to humans.
