Lingcod opener

Post by dizzyedge » Mon Apr 25, 2016 9:27 am

Anyone know when the lingcod season opens and what the regs are for 2016? I've never been but I got a boat this year and wanted to try catching lingcod but don't know when or where I can fish them in puget sound area 8-2. I can find the 2015 Regs but not sure if there are changes this year.

Scratch that. Just read the dates on the top of the page of the regs. Duh! Lol

Dates are not set for next season yet as far as I know. The new regs are not due out until 1 July and ling season inside the sound will be long over by then.

So unless you plan to head out to the ocean areas, dont delay or you will miss your one short chance.

Yes last years book is still good: This pamphlet is effective July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016 and contains information
you need to legally fish throughout Washington State (see WAC summary information below).
They were late getting it out last year so they bumped the date back.

Yeah after I posted this I noticed the dates that said it was effective until July of this year. When I read the dates specific to lingcod I thought it was referring to last May.

Is there anyone here with a boat that has a couple open seats? We would gladly chip in reasonably and/or bring a full lunch and snacks. Please be okay with a respectful smoker. We're in the 8-2 area. Can fish weekdays or mornings. Thanks! :fish:
