For anyone who is interested there will be a deep water smallmouth clinic on March 13th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Auburn Sports and Marine.

The clinic will be put on by Mike Wolsky. I don't know Mike personally but a good friend of mine who is one of the best tournament fishermen in the state told me that the guy is very good at locating and catching deep fish.

The fact that he just won the Freeze Your Bass tournament two weeks ago on Sammamish backs this up I guess.

Anyone interested in fishing Smallmouth in the months of November- March should find the clinic very helpful.

For anyone who has a chance to go to this, I strongly suggest you take it. Mike is a very talented angler with a ton of knowledge of Lake Washington and Sammamish. He and his partner are the riegning NW Bass angler's of the year and they took rookie team of the year the year prior. Those two titles alone should speak for themselves. Mike is also an extremely nice guy who will give you all the info you can process.

FishinLife, I can almost guarantee its a free clinic. It takes place after they close, they have had a few clinics in the past. I know Mike Wolsky quite well and he sure can fish. When I bought my boat he went out with me and showed me some techniques, and I been on his boat before as well. I surely will not miss this. Hope to see you guys there.

It was great to see Chris B & Jeremiah aka fishnislife at the clinic. Main thing I got from it was to explore and use the aqua view more to find different structure in the 30 to 60 feet range. He really only had a few techniques that he mainly uses ( grub, hula grub, jigs w/craw trailers ) and recommends using braid line with fluro leader when fishing deep water to get the better hook set. The clinic was a good confidence builder to keep on fishing deeper water on the big lakes.

Glad to hear it was a good clinic, I guess I wouldnt have expected much else though. I really wanted to attend but I got too caught up in this silver fish weekend that I am attending....lol. I love all fish the same, but that is one section I need a little (A LOT) of help in.

It was definitely worth the drive. I picked up a couple of things, but most importantly he reinforced a lot of what I already knew and that gives me more confidence to go out and do those things. One thing that I picked up that he does to his salt impregnated baits, that I had never thought of, is to sqeeze them to release the salt. Easy to do and seems to me that it would make that bait that much more effective. And he said that it loosen the bait up for more action. Something I will have to start doing.
It was good to see you too Sommy. And I'm glad I finally got to meet you Chris (and girlfriend). I'm sure there were more guys from the site but I did recognize them.
I will say one thing, that made my trip well worth it, Auburn Tackle and Marine has an excellent selection for the bass addict. You can definitely tell bassheads work there. If you haven't gone yet, check it out. I will be buying my gear from there (that I don't buy online).

i was so bent that i couldnt make it (8 month prego gf) anybody know if todd was there?

auburn sports marine is a great store for salmon steelhead and bass. they literally have almost everything i need except for cranks. they have a lousy crank selection, but a pretty good jerk/ripbait selection. dropshot and plastics galore. everybody should check it out if you havent been there.

I thought it was a good presentation as well, by an accomplished angler. Mike Wolsky is a good guy !
I'm glad I got to meet Jeremiah finally, and got to sit down with Som also. Wish we could have talked more Jeremiah, but when I got inside the store I got sucked in to looking at more tackle, you know how that is. Its the first time I got to talk to Chris Ferry one on one too. Mike brought up some good tips. I think I'll take the big step and try braid by the end of this year lol. Its something I haven't done yet, but I'm sure I'll be happy when I do. I have a fear I'll break my DS rod with braid, have to start setting the hook less. Also need to use my aqua-vu more. Good luck out there this weekend Jeremiah and Kzoo.

I'm pissed i couldn't make it. I had to go to work in Yakima and was on the east side until 8pm. NOT HAPPY bout that i was looking forward to that clinic
