Lake Merwin & Kokanee
I ws trolling for the Kokanee on Sat. and drew another blank. Tried a couple of different wedding rings
and even a small Dick Nite spoon.
The water temp was 47, thats up from 44 a couple of weeks ago. I,ll try again next weekend & hope we get some warmer weather soon.
Anybody have any tips for KOKANEE Fishing?

My advice would be to PM Kokanee Kid or "KK" -- he is the resident expert on these fish.Kokonuts wrote: Anybody have any tips for KOKANEE Fishing?

RE:Lake Merwin & Kokanee
This time of year I would try small spoons with Kokanee scent probably no deeper than 20-30 feet unless its really bright out.
As the season moves on try trolls with bait, or still fish and go deeper. White shoepeg corn, worms, maggots...

ok I give up..what IS a wedding ring? I've probably seen one or know, but for the life of me I'm getting a blank everytime I see someone say it.
RE:Lake Merwin & Kokanee
Anything shiny. I prefer Kastmasters and Dick Nite Spoons. Depending on weather conditions, you should troll at a depth between 20-35 feet. I'm only familiar with tigers in Merwin, not the kokes. Some lakes differ but overall my expierience with kokanee is in large lakes such as Riffe,Cushman and Kachess...this works in these lakes. Merwin is about the same size and has some similar features. It SHOULD work but don't quote me.

I was talking to some guys at American lake(pierce county) and they were catching kokanee using a wedding ring tipped with a maggot.

I've never used this method but know plenty who have. IT WORKSAwoods wrote:I was talking to some guys at American lake(pierce county) and they were catching kokanee using a wedding ring tipped with a maggot.
