We ate carp a lot back home..One thing we learned was that they changed in taste and texture depending on water..the warmer it is the musher it gets...we had a nice little cold water stream that we would fish for them in. Gramps would either smoke them using a simple brown sugar/salt rub or slice them in thin strips and roll them in egg and corn meal... more than few carp died just because we wanted a sunday snack of carp strips.

I took one put some tabasco on it, popped it in my mouth and the first bite I took it exploded and I had all these little slimy eggs, that felt like pop rocks slithering around my toungue. It was the grossest experience I have ever had. I ran to the bathroom and puked every little thing I had in me. I could never make it on Fear Factor. True story!!
Oh man, funny story!

As for the carp, I'll have take you guys' word that those pigs can taste good. I guess you could even double-batter, deep-fry and smother a dog turd with enough bacon, gravy, and tobasco to make it taste good. :thumright

With all due respect to you guys that'll eat 'em, I think the best recipe might be to drop the guy into the ol' "Bass-O-Matic" (Dan Akroyd skit on SNL) and pour that lovely cocktail over your garden.

I wonder if you can apply wwhat my friend's family does to bullhead. With bullhead, when caugh they just take the hook off at the swivel and throw them into a large insulated cooler filled halfway with water. They take them home and put them in the bathtub, also filled with ccold water, and just let them live and swim around over night. The next morning the bottom of the tub has a lot of dirt in it, they take the fish out, clean & skin em, fillet them, then fry em....was the best tasting fish I ever had actually....

now would it be beneficial to do this with carp since carp would also ingest a lot of mud/dirt?

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.
