More than anything else, I paid bills and worked in the yard. I did manage to rebuild another bamboo fly rod and I met and fished with some new fishing partners. Oh yeah, I also managed to buy a new pontoon boat. Another thing, I was introduced to some new lakes to fish. I guess it's been a good summer after all. And, it isn't over yet.

Good thread...
I have fished more than I've ever fished, since probably Jan of this year, and ALOT over the actual summer. Also spent 2 days in Chelan, and two days in Mazama. (not fishing) Then spent 4 days sleeping in a pup-tent with my 9 y/o son at Scout camp. Sidebar---- I was never quite sold on scouting up until this point. The camp was full of about 200 kids between just 6 and nine years of age, it was run entirely by Boy Scouts 16-19ish ages. Not an adult anywere in charge. But these Boy Scouts were the most mature, organized, knowlegable and resourceful teenagers that I've ever met. What a level of maturity, and they weren't getting paid hardly a thing. Anyway...... if you have a young kid you should really have a close look at scouting. If my son wants to continue I'm all behind it.

One of the funner things we did was a family vacation down to Oregon for a few days. My 17 y.o. had a lineman's camp in Corvales and we dropped him off then went to the coast. Temp dropped from 88 to 65! brrrr. My 14 y.o. and I rented ATVs for an hour in the dunes and then sand-skied the dunes - that was fun!

Also, my 14 y.o. collects and re-furbishes NERF guns, so we hit all the Goodwills we could find.

A nice trip for sure.

Seems like it was a quick summer so far ... I have done my most fishing since I have been in Washington. Besides that we just returned from our first camping trip down by Randle and the Cowlitz. We had been talking about it for many years and finally just scheduled and went with two other families. Besides the 95 degree heat I think all and all it went pretty well. No one completely melted down and there have been talks of another camping trip for next year. We also spent 4 days at Seaside, Oregon. It is the favorite vacation stop of my wife. Learned how to repair a refrigerator (well it wasn’t something I planned but the money saved help pay for the camping trip). And worked a bit in the train room finally adding some scenery to the layout.
'course they don't have biscuits and gravy ... but if they did, I bet everyone would eat there.

I agree with the above posts that summer flew by way too fast. I studied and am pegged on return to college here in the next week. I fished the saltwater a ton (I know that doesn't count) and studied, studied, studied taking a full summer load. I'm grateful I was able to fish with some members/owners of this site early in the year. It was indeed a pleasure. Hope everyone has had a fun and safe summer time. :thumright

Returned back to full time status after 2 shoulder surguries. Its nice to be working again
Been traveling a bit more with the family, went up to Vancouver Island and camped for a few days(amazing fishing too)
Purchased another boat...12ft for small lakes. Bought a new house that has kept me pretty busy but I enjoy doing yard work.
