I'm in for a C note.
Fewer wardens means more poached elk, deer, fish.

Very well put KUP. I dont really like getting checked by Wardens but it is a very important job they do.So few for so many lakes, rivers, saltwater, hunting areas.I may get steamed by the gamies but its a heck of a job they have to do.I sure wouldnt want that job.But even after ranting about the gamies they cover alot of grond and do it quite well.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

I think Craig's idea of the "Save A Warden" and the "Check Off" on all hunting/fishing licenses is the best idea to come down the pike in years and I'll definitely be participating.
I do however think that dollar amounts should not be posted on a forum. Especially large amounts. This could be detrimental to the program as some people might be intimidated by thinking they can't afford to participate. IE: A couple with kids might not have very much expendable income compared to a couple with no kids. I think donations should always be kept anonymous. I'd like to see as many people participate as possible and be able to feel good about whatever their donation was rather than not participate because they can't match what's been posted on a public forum.

I don't tell anyone what to do with their money.
That would be controlling.
I am generous and I choose not to feel bad about it.
My generosity MAY encourage others to do the same.
If I choose to support a project that I feel is worth while,
I have always been willing to put my money where my mouth is.

Others may give less, others may give more. That is their choice.
Some may wish to say how much, some may not. That is their choice.

Not yours.

Hi everyone, I'm in Chicago right now and will have a limited ability to monitor this forum for the next few days. I want to remind everyone that the number of letters is what matters. WDFW will be more impressed by 100 letters donating $1 each than 2 letters with $50. We're trying to send WDFW a message. So, please get the word out to your friends and acquaintances. Sending in a dollar bill gets the job done.

Took me a while to find the time to read through this post.
I will be sending a letter from myself with a donation! I will also be sending a letter on behalf of my lure company with some of the money raised from the raffle at the April 18th and 19th Pike tournament! I think this is a no brainer! It wouldn't cost them anything to put a little box on the license or have the person selling the license ask "would you like to donate $2 for........." like they always do for all the other great causes.

Thank you guys for putting the effort forth to get something like this started!

Don, your logic is faulty.
What is wrong with 100 people sending 20 bucks?
I understand the need to get everyone to send something, even a dollar is great, yes, but don't discourage anglers who want to send more.
If you want to impress the WDFW, then head count AND dollars can help.

I will present your motion at the Chapter 57 Board Meeting today and we will see what happens.

Jani,

I think you missunderstood Don's point. It is more important to have higher numbers of letters versus higher dollar amounts overall. Obviously the more money, the better but due to the current economic situation some people may not be able to give much. Don's point and emphasis on the overall gesture of sending a letter and even if the check is for $2 is more important than fewer people giving more money. We don't want to discourage people from sending in letters because they can't give money. In fact, it would be perfectly fine and even encouraged to send a letter even if you can't afford anything. Our voices for support need to be heard. Just my thoughts and attempt to clarify what I think Don's intent was.

Hey Guys,

keep in mind that a loss of WDFW enforcement will affect a lot more than fishermen.

I also posted a link to this thread at the duckhuntingchat forum here.

on top of that there is Washingting-hunting-forums, there is a washington chapter of the goosehuntingforum, and there are lots of other forums for fly fishers, stealheaders, backpackers and hikers, etc!!! even tree huggers who are not in favor of hunters/fishers should be supportive of WDFW enforcement.

if you participate in other forums, get the word out.
