Opening day choices

Post by Uncle Wes » Tue Apr 21, 2009 5:31 pm

Well with the traditional day almost upon us, what is your lake of choice? For me personally this is one day I stay away from just because of the crowds and extra traffic not only on the roads but the lakes also. Good luck to all and if you decide to go out keep your sense of humor and enjoy yourself.

I am with you Wes, I am not much of a crowd fighter. But if I were to brave the masses, I have to go with Mineral Lake. I don't have the patience to deal with waiting in line at the launch, but yes, be safe out there and I look forward to the posts to read after this weekend.

Uncle Wes and Jens i agree with both of you combat fishing isn't for me either, i prefer to wait until during the week to avoid fighting for a fishing spot.

Pine Lake in Sammamish is always fun for the kids if you have a boat. They have a new fishing dock, but I would still avoid that like the plague. It is just no fun fishing elbow to elbow.

Either one will be full of people in little boats catching lot's of little fish. I prefer Martha lake. but the launch will be a nightmare. One thing is pretty good there .... the fish will bite all day long. Great place for the kids.Maybe someone here will know of a place you can park your boat a day ahead and use their dock or shore.
Check out Ed's Surplus in Lynnwood. They know about the kids derby's that are happening all around the north end lakes. Give them a call. 425 775 1933. I think the debies will be held at Twin lakes, Flowing, and others. There will be special stocking of trout for these derby's. Good Luck and enjoy your self, Steve

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

The opener is little to do about fishing:-$ :-# and if the salt was dead we always packed up the drifters and camping gear and headed East to Lenore or Dryfalls and many others honey butter systems EAST pounding fish to 10lbs and seeing next to not one goof but fish, nature and sunshine:cheers: and kids love Ea Wa you just have to get on fish and trust me watching the general stocker opener is sad in most cases that did not press for more of a adventure then beer cans, litter and CUPCAKE wrappers:cyclopsan :colors:

Fishing is more then just that:scratch: its a adventure make it happen and earn one for others.:thumleft:

I will likely fish Cranberry Lake in Island County. It's well stocked and because it's open year round, almost no one will be there. I also read a recent report from Cranberry that was positive so it should be fun. I love watching my wife catch fish, whatever the size. Good luck to all, be safe, and have a great weekend.

Dave,

good call on cranberry there! There are some nice sized fish there too.

I personally will be on deer lake. Not too crowded, and fishing is good. boat ramp gets a little nuts though, but that is the price to pay!
