Operating the live well

Post by Anyfish » Sun May 10, 2009 6:32 am

I'm new to the live well operation. My question is, am I supposed to keep the aerator pump on all the time or just run it at intervals? my concern would be battery life and and the pull on the battery from the pump. Do most of you have a seperate battery to run your pump and other accessories?

Hey Anyfish,
Your live well pump draws very little juice from your battery. I would venture to say you could run it all day and never notice a difference in battery levels. That being said you might have a three position rocker switch similar to mine. The positions are Center-OFF, Top-Auto which runs intermittently on a timer and Manual which is the fill. If not, it's a very easy install.

Thanks for the info Big D. I'll be looking for the rocker switch set up like you have installed.

Hey swede, what can a guy expext one of these power inverter charging systems would sell for? Are they set up for charging 2 batteries in series for the 24v bow mount and 1 battery for the accessories automatically when powered?:-k

Cabelas has them, Im sure alot of local marine shops will too. They can be fairly cheap for a 12V system and go up in price for the 2 and 3 bank that can do multiple voltages.
