What's 4 Dinner!
RE:What's 4 Dinner!
Wow, that looks soooo good Fishinislife. Since you’ve updated this topic, I will join you with an update on my weight loss. I am still at it, eating clean and workin out doing both cardio and weight training. Since I last responded to this topic on May 3rd, I have lost 15 more pounds for a total of 146 pounds gone in just under 19 months. I feel amazing and am now seeing and enjoying the results from about 11 months of weight training. I am 12 pounds from my goal weight which is 250 (I'm 6' 3"). Once I hit 250, I will set a new goal and lose 20 more pounds before deciding where exactly I want to be, long term.
My meals continue to be based on poultry, fish, and veggies with a cheat meal or two once a week to avoid the dreaded weight loss plateau which I have not experienced thank goodness. I recently made up 25 pounds of sausage (12.5 pounds each of german and polish) using 7% lean ground turkey and Zach's seasoning mix. It’s a nice change from seasoned and grilled turkey burgers (no bun) and grilled chicken breasts. I’ve been eating some nice taco salads lately using ground turkey and topped with a little fat free sour cream to add some variety along the way. I think I might try your ribs next week on cheat day. Thanks for the idea. By the way, the potatoes look great as well. Comfort food for sure!

146 lbs!! You should be very proud of yourself Dave. Your concept of having "cheat days" is awesome as well. When I did the diet thing, I used that same technique. I found that it was easier to diet if I knew that I had built in those days where stress or just the craving for something other than diet food was available for me.

Man, lookin for my bib right now. That looks like the type of meal to sit down to with a nice cold brew and movie. Delicious. just delicious.
Wonder why I'm hungry all of a sudden? lol

Im with ya Dave. Im still at dropping it off. I do plateau here and there. Its frustrating but I still maintain my eating right.I'm down a lil over 70 lbs now and still losing. Dave is right all the way. The energy I have now is amazing. the only drawback is buying new clothes. Its getting costly buying new stuff. Like dave I live mainly on veggies ,chicken, and fish.I will add lamb or pork to this once a week.I totally gave up beef.Cry Cry.....Dave youre lucky about not plateauing. It can get very frustrating.Good luck and happy eating to all.

70 lbs is a great achievement. Don't underestimate what you have accomplished. People stuggle all the time just to lose between 10 and 20 lbs. never mind going upwards of 50. Keep up the great work.

Dave and I are doing this pretty much at the same time. Weve been chatting back and forth on it.I went from a size 50x30 pants to a 40x30 now.I may get discouraged at times but I wont give it up.I love the new me.I even posted a pic of me in the Bass Forum just cuz I would have not done that a year and ahalf ago.It was bad for me for a while I bought the largest waders I could find and still had trouble getting in them. Now I fit my old waders. I went out in my Livingston and it submerged. Now I row around in it where ever.I even take it crabbing.I got aways to go but im getting there.Ive done the Weight Watchers diet. I think Dave does his diet. Both seem to work.Hes also a good inspiration.
Now back to topic. Is that SAUCE I see on dem ribs?????I do the dry rubs. A fishing buddy of mine said "no Texan would eat Ribs with sauce.Ifin you want sweet sauce go to Kansas."lol

Good job Dave and Racfish! I'm still on the road with both of you. I'm pealing it off slow with a change in eating, not dieting. I started in August last year and have pealed off over 50# so far. I met my goal and just kept going. I eat pretty much anything I want watching the fat and portions. Yeah that means a lot of chicken, fish and veggies. =) The one big thing I'm missing is good ales. I've limited my self to three beers per week and those are light.... =(. Now ribs..... The smoker just had the last round fish put through it......
Build a man a fire and he's warm for the night. Light a man on fire and he's warm the rest of his life!

RE:What's 4 Dinner!
I went to a micro brewery in Port Townsend one day and sipped a Belgian White beer. mmmmmmmmmmmmm My bud drinks it alot. I tried and bought a groler (sp) of this beer to find out its the most fattening of all beers. That week I went up 3 lbs. I was devasted. Im now on back to no alcy for a while. They said a sixpac of Belgian is like eating a loaf and a half of bread. Yikes....Here I thought a lil beer wont hurt.WRONG..Good going to all of us. Portion size is the main item too watch I'm finding.I track all foods and drinks that pass through the lips.I write it all down.Write what you eat in one day then figure the calories.Youll be shocked at the ammount.
