Banks lake camping?
OK, I think I will being staying somewhere around the sun lakes area for a night or 2. But I just realized I don't have a whole lot of experience in that area. I have fished a few of the lakes, but I really want to fish banks lake. Whats the best fish/camp resort on Banks lake?
RE:Banks lake camping?
Coulee Playland at the north end is where I have always camped. There are motels in that area also.

Or the campgrounds at the south/middle of Steamboat Rock. Which is north of mid lake.
Both are on the east side of the lake.

Boy am I glad to see you around again Garrett. How'z it been? Hope you can make the Extravaganza this year, it would be nice to see ya again.
As far as Banks, Amx has the info. that you need. Steamboat is awesome and pretty good for bank fishing. When we have gone we stay at SunBanks Resort which is sweet. But of coarse we have had boat access and the whole lake to fish, so if your bank fishing I wouldn't know the best spot. But for camping you can't go wrong with either of those spots. If you guys are going to party down Steamboat is the place to be.

RE:Banks lake camping?
Save some $$$ (free)and camp at Barker Canyon on the west side of Banks or at the WDFW sites on the eastside near Electric city. Camping at Barker Canyon will get you close to some excellent fishing.
RE:Banks lake camping?
Make sure to bring along your chemical weapons. The Mosquitoes are bad this time of year.
A couple of them tried to carry my dog off last weekend.

Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.

Watch for them every where...especially where it transitions from wet green grass and foliage to dry desert scrub.Amx wrote:And watch for rattlesnakes over by Barker Canyon.

Wow thanks guys, I had no idea that there was this many places to camp on banks. I like the sounds of steam boat. I have a boat, but its a tiny little guy with a 40lb thrust min kota, so I am not going to have access to the entire lake. Should I make reservations? I hate making reservations to a place I have never benn because every time I get to my spot there is like 10 other spots that are way cooler than mine.
Hey Jeremiah, its nice to hear from you again too buddy. We need to make time to hook up and do a little fishing this summer for sure

RE:Banks lake camping?
Another question for the pros. Where is the best place to get walleye with in a mile of a launch? Like I said, I have a tiny boat and I know how the wind can get in that area. So I don't want to get too far from the launch in my 10' er. What about crappie? Are there channel cats in the lake? What are the best plastics to throw for bass? Thanks guys

RE:Banks lake camping?
Launch at the state launch on the east side of the lake just north of Steamboat.
Then go straight across the lake to Eagle Rock.

And you can go to the bait shop at Coulee Playland and they can mark a map of where to fish. Or the bait shop in Electric City, which is also where Coulee Playland is at the north end of town.

gpc- I am by no means a pro but check out my report of Banks that I just posted. We stayed at the state park, nice place but be sure to make a resevation if you can, I didn't and ended up with a site with minimal shade. As far as where to fish, the bay straight across from the state park launch was ok. The mosquito controll program seems to be working at the state park too.
