Whidbey island
Is there any thing to beach fish for on Whidbey (Bush Point/ SWSP) right now? If so with what tackle?

Nothing really at the moment. Make sure to check your regs, if your out there slinging buzz bombs the Game Warden will think your targeting salmon which are currently closed.
You could go for flounder or bullhead off the shore. Thats about all you'll find right now. Maybe some perch if you find some pilings.

Getting ready to hit the island Friday this week. Will be doing alot of fishing on the north end around Deception Pass bridge and Bowman Bay.
Anyone have any hints for this area (6 and 8.1) for bank fishing?

RE:Whidbey island
charlie, wait 2 more weeks at bush point and you will slay the pinks when they come in, just go hook up with a pink buzzbomb and you should do fine
<*)))><
RE:Whidbey island
bluebullitt2003, How about South Whidbey State Park for pinks?
RE:Whidbey island
Bush Point for pinks....You'll be fishing with a lot of folks, but you'll all score fish...

RE:Whidbey island
Double Bluff?
RE:Whidbey island
Off the boat ya. Off the shore, no. Not much good water to cast to off the shore....mlrodoni wrote:Double Bluff?

RE:Whidbey island
Any other spots other than Bush Pt. for shore fishing for pinks? I'm bringing my godson and nephew in a couple of weeks and the fewer people the better. Was that a no on SWSP?
RE:Whidbey island
Lagoon Point is another option but there are crowds there as well..
Put it this way, Pink season isn't the time for peace and quite....
You could always venture around the rivers up north near you...Snohomish, Skykomish, etc...Lots of pinks in there....

Thanks. Guess we'll deal w/ the crowds. When will the pinks really get hot? Anything now you think?
RE:Whidbey island
By mid August they will be out there in good numbers. End of August early september is the best time for Bush Point...mlrodoni wrote:Thanks. Guess we'll deal w/ the crowds. When will the pinks really get hot? Anything now you think?
Kings are out there in good numbers now, but obviously they aren't typically taken from shore...

RE:Whidbey island
1st off each weekend 400 tubs checked less then 20 Kings in 2 mayor Marinas/hardly stellar numbers#-o but the fish are coming the mother load is late 10 days Kings should be spot on for 4 -5 fish days in a great tide change for the 3 percent club.
We need some early morning incoming tides as well the late afternoon, early evening have been grand but the increased winds have really been a beating making it in for all of us:cyclopsan
The stinks much will matter as the numbers will be staggering and Chip took 2 already last Sunday fishing Kings right in front of us just south of PP about 4-5 lbers.
So many open beaches will be productice with the correct tides for weeks for stinks:colors:

RE:Whidbey island
To be honest you don't need a map, jsut saty close to the island and once you get away from it, just track the island so you have arefrence point. Maps are nice to have, but if you don't know what you are looking at then jsut go off of refrence points/land marks
Go were the bait is, not always were the boats are, the other boats can be a good source for finding the bait balls along with the gulls. It's pretty hard to get lost in the sound, just tyr to always have a refrence point and should be fine.
good luck
