I just signed up for this forum and I thought I would say Hello. I caught this Tiger yesterday at Newman lake. It was the second Tiger Muskie I have ever caught. I have fished for pike for the last couple of seasons but only recently have I gone after tigers. I look forward to getting to know you guys.

Welcome to Washington Lakes. There are plenty of anglers that are more than willing to share there knowledge about muskie fishing on this website. That is a heck of a fish by the way too! What where the specs on that baby? Also, I see you are from North Idaho, where about? I use to live over there for 1 year in Coeur D'Alene before my company moved me over to the darkside. I was an avid pike fisherman while I was in Idaho. Again congrats on your beautiful tiger and welcome to the glorious mental disease known as muskie fishing!! ;)

Thanks for the welcome. I am very new to the toothy fish game and was raised on fishing for bass. The fish was around 40" and 15lbs. I caught it on a lucky craft jerk bait. My father also caught a 9lb one an hour earlier as well on a spoon. I live in Rathdrum Idaho but grew up in spokane. My parents live in WA so I get the out of state WA as well as Idaho. I tried fishing silver a couple days back but we could not get one to bite.

I am hooked already for sure. Pike and Tigers are my new thing. I cannot wait to catch another one. I am over on the coast a couple times a year. I would love to try and fish on that side of the mountains one of these days.

Ryan, a lil secret... In Western Washington, I think most of the Musky Hunters live closest to and probably fish Lake Tapps the most. Its the home lake of both the local Musky clubs.

Hope to see ya out there. Im easy to spot on the lake, Im the one in the blue Bayliner pulling my lure out of the closest tree...

Good job, Ryan! And welcome to muskie fishing! There is only one MUSKIE INC. Chapter in the NW and we are it! We have over 100 members and they are spread out over 3 states, so we don't have a "home" lake- we fish them all!
Anytime you are on the westside, let us know and we will get you out on the water. Feel free to check out our website, too at www.nwtigermuskies.com lots of good reading. We have 7,000 members Internationally and they are a great source of info, like BIG Lunge Log, research, and conservation.
It is a great picture! Thanks for posting it. washingtonlakes.com is the forum we mostly hang out in. And as you can see, we sponsor this page - so here is where we like to keep all the MUSKIE anglers informed!!

Yup, they are the only Muskie Inc chapter in Washington while Cascade Musky Association is independant and local to washington.

We ALL fish ALL of the Musky lakes but we call the local one home. Most of BOTH groups community efforts has centered around Lake Tapps, CMA's rebuilding of the Driftwood Point recreation shelter, Ch57 cleaning up the roads by that lake and members from both groups picking up trash inside of the county park there.

Lots of people involved here, passionate about our Tigers!

Beautiful fish. I'm still trying to catch my first one. Got my first follows on your side of the mountains at the 2-Fer hosted by CMA at Newman and Silver. Both lakes are gorgeous. My husband was not too thrilled with the drive over, but decided the fishing we enjoyed and friendships we made over there well worth it. We hope to get to Curlew next summer for some fishing. We here the tigers in Curlew are numerous and huge. Hope you can get over here to our side and check out Mayfield and Tapps.

I have fished Curlew years ago before the tigers were there. I have a friend that lives in the Colville area so I am close to Curlew at times. My father has the boat and he is not to thrilled to drive for ever when we have lots of pike lakes to fish within 45 minuts of our homes. I am also looking to see about the Idaho waters with Tigers as well. Hauser has them and it is only 15 minuts from my house as well as a few others not to far. Most of the lakes in N Idaho with tigers are hardly fished at all with the exception being Hauser. I also think many are electric motors only. I will post more pics if and when I catch any more.

Yes definitely post the pics of the Idaho tigers from hauser, blue lake and the others. I will have to plan a road trip over to try and fish for those tigers in idaho.

By the way, we are having a members only pike tournament on the Pend Oreille river in October. If your up for it you will have to show us how to catch those monster northerns!! If you interested just let us know.

that's right--when you all are fishing for Pike at Pend Oreille, I will be catching a true Muskie in Hayward in the Chapter 13 tourney, with dear old Dad!!

Anyway, hope you make it over to this side one of these days, Ryan. Any number of Muskie (or Musky) anglers would be more than happy to escort you onto Tapps or even Mayfield.

Keep us posted on your success at Hauser. I wish I had a lake like that out my back door. Curlew is awesome for sighting the elusive Tiger--but less so for catching them. I swear they like to swim by within plain sight, grin and turn away without so much as a care in the world. There are some nice fish in that lake...maybe you'll have better luck if you get a chance to wet your line there.

Perhaps we'll cross paths one of these fine fishing days!
