New World Record Pike/Northern Pike Tournament On The Pend Oreille River

Post by Lucius » Sat Sep 19, 2009 9:02 am

I thought this is fitting considering the Chapter 57 Pike tournament is 2 weeks away and I thank Jigman for sending it to me. Here is a picture and article of the possible world record Northern Pike caught in Poland. I guess it was 61" long and approximately 63 lbs. I plan on catching one at least half that size for the tournament. Fish ON!!! Check it out!

I may be wrong but looking at the picture, especially around the tail area of the fish, this looks like a photoshop job. It could be the poor quality of the picture, but it just does not look right to me.

I got crucified for stating my opinion in your other forum i guess i'll get it again from the greatest muskie club in the world again.

In reference to the Tapps tourny results, the muskie bite was tough on all counts.
Only one was caught at Mayfield but I'm certain that both tournaments had success's
with providing fun and the promotion of a healthy tiger muskie fishery.

Just in case some of you haven't figured it out yet, this is a picture of my wife (at the time my girlfriend of 3 months) with her first pike ever caught. 44" and 27 lbs or so. I have a lot to live up too and hopefully I can do that this weekend. As of now all cabins and motels are taken at the Blueslide resort (a couple of moose hunters but mostly enthusiastic pike fisherman). I can't wait for this weekend.

Esox Lucius, here I come!!

Good luck this weekend guys. I will be up there too but not fishing the tournament. I have been up there alot lately and wanted to warn you guys that have not fished up there much. It is really shallow still so be careful. Take a look at google earth at the sand bars and shollow spots and that will give you a good idea of what side of the river to be on when running up and down it. The middle is not always the best bet. Also some dead heads around that are just under the surface that are usually 5 or more feet under the water.

Be careful and good luck. I have a diffrent boat now. If you see a Ranger Fish and Ski with a Black VMAX that has a silver fin on the back that is me.

Later,

Frank

That looks like one happy little kid with you and the fish. I love to see kids out fishing with their parents, grandparents, etc. Thanks.
