Nastiest fishing thing left in your car??

Post by The Quadfather » Thu Aug 02, 2007 1:20 pm

:-$

I was reading the thread about keeping worms fresh, etc. and it got me to thinking. What are some of you people's nastiest fishing related, i.e. bait. things that you've ever left in your vehicle. Do any of your S.O's
have a reaction?
Recently I've got excited about carp fishing. I had gone online and read a bunch of stuff about recipes, baits etc.
Basicly use the stinkiest whatever that you can find. I went out and got a 1lb of chicken livers. Of course I used like 2 the first night. Then I left the bag in my car for I think 6 days. We're talking weather in the 80's.
It's kind of funny, but I actually sort of forget it is back there at first, and then I actually kind of lose it. I have so much fishing stuff that it gets buried. After awhile it's unbearable. co-workers won't ride with me.
So to top it off, I finally pull everything out of the car, and it turns out that the plastic wrap thing has leaked chicken liver blood into the carpet. Oh yeah, that may bring a catfish or carp right up to my car.
I still can't get it out completly.

Never mind how many worm containers I leave in my side panel of the float tube.
Oh wait a minute, there is one more.... In my first car as a teenager, a volkswagen beetle, there is nothing under the hood. That is the trunk. I used to put my chicken for crabbing up there and let it brew in the sun for about three days until it started wafe through the pioneer cassette player. I always did well crabbing.

This is bad. But one time me and my cousin went to stay in a cabin in cle ellum. My parents gave us a bunch of crab to eat while we were down there. But my cousin's car broke down so we had to take his parents suburban. Well we drank the whole time and never ate the crab, so it smelled horrible. Well the whole way back the cooler was fine didnt spill or anything but reeked. So we took out the beer and the next day my cousin left for work. Right when he pulled into work he dumped the huge cooler w/ about 6 gallons of crab water all over the back seat and carpet. So he didnt have time to clean it right then. Well it got to 80 degrees that day. Well to make a long story short we never got the scent out, no matter how hard we tried. About a month later the whole inside of the SUV molded. His parents were left w/ the option of replacing all the seats and carpet for a couple grand or just tossing the suburban that was only worth a couple grand. They got a new car

On a fishing trip many, many years ago I was "given" 5 trout that the other guy caught. If I didn't catch them I didn't want them. They were left in the trunk of his car and he found them 3 weeks later. I would suspect he had earlier ideas something wasn't right in his trunk.

the worst was a bucket full of panfish bones/ heads that i had left in my van for a week during a hot spell, the flies found the stuff and well!!!!!!!!!!! on another note, my brother and i got even with a contractor that owed us a good sum of money for some work done. said he had no money but comes on the jobsite sport'n a nice camper set-up he just bought and was showing it off (stuupiidd!!!!) well we didn't say anything and before long were invited to see what he bought, just happened that we had a chest full of oysters that we were going to grill for every one when work ended. well this guy got a few more than he planned on stuffed in his cushins, drawers, etc. a few days went buy and he started to complain about a funky smell in the camper as the days went buy he started asking some of us if we could find out what the stink was, well my brother and i volunteered to check it out. yep! the stuff was still there doing a good number to the air quality in his camper, told him we couldn,t find anything. eventually he had some cleaning service clean it but it still had a slight funky smell a month later. <')//<

I left herring in my truck for two days during hot weather and seagulls found it and redecorated my truck in herring chunks.
