using shrim to catch bass

Do you mean "shrimp"? if so I have never heard of anyone using shrimp for bass.

I googled it and it said stuff about bass eating grass shrimp. I don't get why they wouldn't go after a piece of shrimp if you fished with them. They'll eat anything else.

Bass are not found of dead bait. You can of course use dead bait if you work it somewhat like a lure, keep it moving.

Grass Shrimp are actually Scuds, Gameras if I recall correct, and not shrimp. The Scuds are quite small, totally different colors then salt water shrimp, and smell quite different.

In short, I suppose that like anything else, Shrimp is a tool, nothing more, nothing less. It seems that there is a place for every tool in my box, but I don't go for a hammer if a screw driver is what I need.

So yea, you can use live crawfish, I guess they want you to only use it if you found it in the water you are fishing though.

Yeah for me too! I had no clue that was the case, and frankly I'm surprised more people aren't using live crawdads, I know that's always been one of the most popular Big Bass baits in California. learn something new everyday.

In my former life I was a flyfisherman. Have you vere seen a scud or "freshwater shrimp"? They are tiny. They do look exactly like a big shrimp but they are microscopic in comparison to a real shrimp and would be uncastable on anyting other than a fly rod. Good luck with that!

I was fishing at Riffe several years ago. The normal bait of choice for those Silvers is cocktail shrimp. I was fishing off the shore when I heard a ruckus on the bridge, some old timer hooked into something big. He was smart not to try and lift the pig out of the water and try and reel it up to the top. He walked down to where he could land it. It was a smallie that measured 20 inches. He let it go, but I thought the same thing that bass won't eat shrimp, we'll I know now they do.
