ANTI SNAGGING RULE?
ANTI SNAGGING RULE?
Not too familiar with the rules of this state, but how does this rule affect lures with treble hooks or multiple treble hooks. Do I need to switch every hook out on my lures for one single point hook or two from a boat? This bothers me because I have tons of bass gear that would need to be redone, ie. crankbaits, rapalas, buzzbaits, etc.
RE:ANTI SNAGGING RULE?
no
I think it's only if you are fishing some river here and there, and maybe only while fishing for salmon, stealhead and maybe some trouts.

if you are fishing for bass in lakes, use those trebles to your heart's content, since the rule does not apply to most of the lakesCUTRAG72 wrote:Not too familiar with the rules of this state, but how does this rule affect lures with treble hooks or multiple treble hooks. the anti-snagging rule is applicable only in some rivers and lakes (the regs specifically identify the body of water where the rule applies), and in many cases, the rule is lifted after November 30. If the body of water mentions nothing about the anti snagging rule being in effect, then go ahead and use those trebles if you want to.

Talking about anti snagging... What would be the LEGAL use for a Snagging Rod?
I've seen them at Cabelas.

Ram there are many states where snagging is legal for certain species. Cabela's probably carries the snagging rod because it sells somewhere else...

Some lakes and rivers have selective gear rules were barbless or single hook baits would apply. Just get a reg book or download the pdf from the WDFW site and check it out - http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regs_seasons.html
When fishing the salt you need to have single barbless hooks no matter what. Bass gear I wouldn't worry about unless your fishing a selective gear lake. Which are usually smaller flyfishing or catch and release only trout lakes.

Alaska is one of the states, you can even net on some rivers. They actually sell weighted treble hooks that are meant snagging fish as well.RaMcVey wrote:Talking about anti snagging... What would be the LEGAL use for a Snagging Rod?

Isn't that for subsistence "fishing" only though?gpc wrote:Alaska is one of the states, you can even net on some rivers. They actually sell weighted treble hooks that are meant snagging fish as well.RaMcVey wrote:Talking about anti snagging... What would be the LEGAL use for a Snagging Rod?
