Its only legal if the Musky is OVER 50 inches long. Anything smaller than that is in fact a crime.

YES, The Musky angling community is VERY passionate about this species. Probably more passionate about things than the LMB guys... Just sayin... :-"

Hey natetreat.

Tiger Musky are not indigenous. Tiger Musky are sterile.

This alone makes them rare.

Aside from the public monies that go into this species, hundreds of Musky anglers donated thousands of dollars in cold hard cash to purchase rearing tanks for these critters. We also donate our time to work on the local fisheries and the parks we access those fisheries through. Each of the Musky clubs regularly has WDFW representatives at our meetings to give presentations and discuss "What's Next".

Were not just passionate about Musky, were FANS!

So, if you wonder why we "Get Bent" over things like this, its because we put so much effort into it... and them. There has been issues over the years with people needlessly killing them.

I agree Rich, Muskie fisherman will do whatever it takes to keep these beautiful, hard fighting fish alive and well. The fish cant protect themselves from these poachers. So Its up to the clubs and every fisherman here in the State of Washington to protect these fish so we all have the opportunity as well as our kids and grand kids to keep on catching these monster size fish. We all need to keep on the WDFW to stock more lakes with these awesome fish. Like Rich said these fish are sterile and dont reproduce so they are special and rare. The Tiger Muskie get a bad rap as do the Pike in our state, must be because they have teeth LOL. Please help Support your local Muskie clubs and the Muskie they help support. People seem to forget that these fish actually help revive lakes by feeding on garbage fish that actually hinder other species. I hear people all the time say if you catch a Pike or Muskie just kill it there garbage fish. Those people need to be punished as much as the people that actually do the killing of these awesome fish. And it is illegal to kill or retain a Muskie unless its over 50". So yes I am also passionate about Pike and Muskie.....

Okay, just wanted to make sure. I grew up next door to mayfielld lake and have heard about these fish, but was always told that you need a boat to get to 'em, which I never had. I think that it's disrespectful to kill fish you're not intendinng to eat, and I would love to catch one someday. If people are killing them for no other reason than they don't like them, that's dumb, and just plain mean. I support the fishery wholeheartedly! Never got the chance to catch one. I guess you musky guys are as passionate about your fish as I am about steelhead and to a lesser extant salmon, if someone was killing salmon just because they were eating their favorite species of squid in the sound it would be the same level of stupidity. Boo!

Natetreat,
You can fish for Muskies from the shore, one of the members from Chapter 57 doesnt have a boat and catches as many or more fish than anyone i know. So dont let not haveing a boat keep you from catching one of those monster Tigers. Good luck with your fishing this year. Catch a big Tiger for me....

first off Nate trust me they can be caught from shore .Every lake has spots to bank fish but it takes persistance and paitence. To say im passionate about muskies is an understatement. But i have to tell you Rich there are some pretty passionate LMB fishermen i know who rival a few of us .Also i,d like to add i,ve seen eagles carry fish off that were in the 10 lbs range on rivers and lakes , oh and golden eagles can snatch a kid mountain goat right off a cliff edge i,ve seen it in Kodiak Ak way cool if your into that sort of thing
