First off Tristan thats one heck of a fish. Nice job, and I would say your chances are real good at taking that derby.

Now with that said I have hesitated to write anything about my Saturday outing with Curado because it was a downright embarassing day for me. The wind, sideways rain and snow didn't help things much. But to make it short I started out by losing my gear the first two casts. Than I switched to floats somehow got snagged and lost everything. Switched to spoons got a hell of a birds nest then while un tangeling the mess I had so much line out that it got caught in the wind and blew my line every which direction which was tangled around everything in sight including my self. If I was watching this happen to someone else I probably would have been laughing my ass off. I haven't had a day like this since I started fishing almost 30 years ago. But with all that said I went 0/2 on a rvr fisher spoon. One was a real strong strike with a few head shakes that felt good but came unbuttoned anyways. I saw quite a few fish taken from the hatchery side as well as down river in and below the fast water. Like always found my self saying should of fished the other side. Glad that day is behind me now on to slay some steel and never have a repeat of that again.
KZOO you probably saw some of this and if you were laughing its ok I don't blame you.

I was out there that same day, the wind eventually died off, but so did the fishing. I netted four fish for the guys around me, but got skunked myself. I didn't get out there until noon though. That wind is vicious, I only tried drift fishing in it, the wind would pull my jig off the bottom no matter how much weight I had on.

Yup. The wind and weather up there can be brutal in that area. Dealt with the wind myself last time I was up there. Made it a miserable drift. Needless to say I'll be back there real soon though...
When times get tough, just keep on fishin'!!!

Chef, I never even noticed that you were having troubles, I was concentrating on not being blown off the rock I was standing on. We left early, my buddy forget his gloves. I'm glad that day was over as well!
