Summer Chinook River Fishing

Post by sellis_414 » Thu Jul 28, 2011 4:53 pm

What does everyone use in a river that has Selective Gear Rules (no bait, single barbless hook) when fishing for Chinook?

Specific lures and colors?

Can you use jigs?

Thanks for the info.

The same stuff you use in normal river, just with single point barbless hooks and no bait. Spinners, drift fishing corkies, barbless jigs.

I have done very well on blue fox vibrax spinners in size 5. I like the all metalic colors, either all chrome, all gold, or all brass. I also like big teardrop wobbler spoons.

Just ditch the trebles they come with and ad a siwash hook then pinch the barb.

Drift gear works great too!

i see alot of fish in the vedder caught on peach yarn even when you can use bait. the fish aren't flossed either. also big spin n glows and like matt said, spinners. plugs too, depending on size of river and if your in a boat, backtrolling plugs might be the best option.

hooks have to be barbless and you cannot use treble hooks trust me i learned that the hard way. you can use jigs but you might get caught up(snagged) so try using a dink float
