Cut Plug--with or w/o flasher??
Hey, Guys: Question for the BM trollers out there. If you use cut plug herring are you trolling with or w/o flasher? Any tips on rigging would be appreciated....thanks!

i like using the shortbus flashers. make sure your leader is long enough to still allow the cut plug to do its thing. big slow rolls with the cut plug. and slow slow slow

I like to use the Pro-Troll e-chip flasher in Pro chip 8 or 11 in front of herring. You can have any leader length you want as long as it is 42". Color preference is green with glo tape on one side and silver on the other. I like the cut-plug to spin a tight circle

Thanks, Guys...one more bit of info in my mental tacklebox!

Herring dodger still works used in front of a herring as long as you aren't moving too fast. It's a good way to loiter on bait without breaking out the mooching gear.

G-Man: What leader length you like with the dodger/herring combo? I've got a couple big silver Abe and Al's that worked good in Kodiak.

You can always put a second clip on the dr line up ways and run just a flasher on it no bait to get that school thing going. Dangle a lone cripple out behind for the easy take........

Re: Cut Plug--with or w/o flasher??
I always use a long leader, 48" to 60", for cutplug herring. I've found that a short leader imparts action on the herring that can cause the hooks to rip out. As for Abe and Al flashers, and Double B flashers as well, I prefer to use them with artificial baits, especially the Brad's Cutplug, and rip around at 3+ Mph.
