Salmon Berries

Post by kingroobes » Mon Jun 03, 2013 5:03 pm

So lately when the fishing has been slow I have been picking salmon berries. They taste kind of bland on their own. Does anyone have any good recipes? I was thinking of making some sweet berry wine [razz]

You're better off waiting for the blackberries to fruit and ripen.

Salmon berries are good as a jam but they are hard to find in large quantities. Try making a syrup from them and use on waffles or as an ice cream topping.

I always thought they'd be best as a jam or syrup like racfish wrote. Too bitter on their own. My kids sure have fun snacking on them along the trail though.
