King opener area 9/10

Post by chongo469 » Mon Jul 15, 2013 6:52 pm

Anyone getting out for Kings in the A.M.... They are calling for nasty wind in the afternoon but hoping for OK weather in the morning..... We are fishing area 10 to see if we can stay out of the wind a bit..... If fishing Jeff head area, look for a 17 ft reinell fiberglass.... Maroon in color with 3 people on it...

I should be out at possession bar in 9, unless the wind sucks early in the morning. Hopefully it holds off a little bit. Good luck!

Some posts on PP.. guys that were out today. Slow on Possession, word is that Mid Channel is really hot. That is pretty typical, the run gets stalled out at Mid channel, a lot of bait there and it takes awhile to get to 9&10. I plan to hit Possession on Thursday.

One good hit, and stuck him good. From the reports we should have gone to mid channel though.

Thanks for the reports. Sounds like there are fish around. Wonder if Pilot Pt had anything going on. Its often good early in the run on the incoming.

If you know the area you will recognize it from the pics, but I ain't gunna say right where we were at. Hooked 6 adults yesterday. Landed 4. Released 2 wild, and 1 smallish sized keeper. Lost 2 good screamers. Also landed 11 hatchery Blackmouth all about 4-5lb. Think they might be mini-jacks on the head end of the ocean migratory run because they weren't all beat up losing scales like BM usually do. Usually when we see a huge flush of Jacks on the head end of the run you can expect a sizeable run of big fish on their tails, lets hope so. Hitting mid-channel this weekend.

See you on the water.

I hit the west side of Possession about 6:30, by myself, my bud cancelled. Fished there until I got my limit of 2, dogfish that is, 2 is enuff doggies. Quit Possession, went over to Pilot and about 10:30 I hooked a really nice fish, long powerful run, very strong, took out about half my line, fought it for 10-15 minutes until Mr. Harbor Seal showed up and we played tug of war for a long while.. 20 minutes maybe. He won, I did get my Hot Spot flasher back. I hope he chokes on the Coho Killer.

Man that was a nice fish, mid, maybe high 20's, I lost a couple Silvers last Fall to the furbags but this one kind of hurt. That was it. I didn't see a net out, only action I saw was my fish. About 20 boats at Pilot, twice that at the west side. Quit at 2:00.

Matt were you out on the same boat yesterday? It was leaving the Everett launch right as we pulled in.
Yesterday seemed to be a bit slower for most people. My dad managed to get one keeper, nothing special just a 25" buck and we watched a nice wild fish get turned loose but that was about as much action we saw besides dogfish.

I got about a 14lber yesterday, on shore.

Yep, that was us, and that is my boat. Give us a holler if you see her out, always monitoring 68. If we don't answer it's because we can't keep the fish off our lines. Haha

Results from yesterday:

We found some sea-bugs, too. One on the left was 8.25"

Good luck out there, all.

Nice pair of kings! I will make sure to say hi if I get the chance. Not much for radio chatter though.
68 seems to be the salmon hot line for these parts of the salt?

68 is an open chat station. Primarily fisherman, but also pleasure craft and sailboats.

There are a few others the fisherman use, but 68 is where I am usually at as are my comrades.
