I was messing around with soft plastics today and came up with a plastic/bead/feather hybrid jig. I know it looks goofy, but water pressure will push back the tentacles around the head, and it should look more streamlined. When wet, the marabou tail will become very thin and have a nice wiggle action.

Maybe it will catch fish, and maybe it won't. We shall see...

Hook: VMC 1/0 (bronze)
Head: 1/8 oz, shell pink
Body: Smoke/pepper tube + 4mm glow-in-the-dark bead
Tail: Chartreuse marabou
Thread: Red cotton/poly blend (from the craft store)

The bead is super-glued to a thread wrap, and the tube is super-glued to the bead. This will prevent twisting.

I like it. That sucker would just demolish some species of fish in the interior of B.C. Great look, I think it will catch fish. Let us know how you do. I'm so antsy on getting out on area lakes...can't wait for April.

I think it might work for the rivers just as they start to get silt in them from rain (melting snow) after they are low and clear. Pink because salmon and steelhead like it, chartreuse for visibility and black for contrast. Did you put coffee flavor in the plastics?

Does anyone think this could used for opening day when they stock area lakes? I'm thinking this pattern would be most productive up on the rivers in Alaska and the interior of B.C.
