First ice West Side (LOST LAKE)

Post by ice seaker » Mon Dec 14, 2009 5:32 am

good morning all,

on sturday i went to Lost lake on snoquamie pass parked in the parking lot unloaded my snow machine and my gear, drove to the lake and punched a hole in the virgin ice. the ice was 8 inchs of perfect clear ice i fished at about 8 feet to 18 feet of water and quickly caught several trout. the lake was making all sorts of noise and i think it as driving the fish alittle deeper. what a great day no noise except the ice and an ocasional coyote hope to see som more peple up there fishing but at the same time hope it does not get crowded. any way have a great day.

Love the pics, wish I had a way to get up there.
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

I'm not to sure of the legality or running the snow machine up there. But hey if ya didn't get tagged great! It'll be under deep snow before you know it. I've fished it from a little rubber boat but only caught little little RBT's to about 10".

no worries up here at lost lake there is a groomed trail right to the lake almost about 14 mile away and it is not in the alpine areas, many snowmachiners last year about 50 a day to 100 depending on the quality of the snow. yes it does get heavy snow but still great ice last year until march then it started to get slushy +6 inches. last year i caught many fish all ranging from 8 to 14 inches but i have heard of big tripoloides up there so the search goes on.

This past summer I caught some of my best fish of the year (The triploids you speak of) at lost lake.) I think they were mostly about 16" and fat. They are there.

hey,
i just got back form fishing lost lake this weekend and the ice is ok but it has 9 inches of clear ice and then about 10 inches of slush/frozen into a layer then about 2 or 3 inches of water with 1 inch of snow on top. if you go out be carefull and dont go to the middle it seems to be holding more water then the sides. i did good as usual and caught my normal 3 or 4 (14 inch trout) but still looking for the hybreds that are supposed to be in the 7 lb area. hope we get some cold weather to firm the lake up. any way just thought i would post the conditions. good luck and stay safe.
